This has happened many, many times over the years.

Someone in the crowd at Wrigley dumping a beer on a player or throwing something at them as that player is about to make or is making a play?

Please list some of the "many, many" times this has happened.

No list, but the beer dump is nothing new.

On a player as they are making a play?

This was unusual in that this guy was A) A great shot and B) had almost perfect timing. If you kept a camera on every outfielder every time they came close to the warning track, you'd see several of these a year, at least

Nah, that's almost always ye olde beer dump/shower after the play has happened. With those the people are usually at least trying to make it seem like an accident.

Whatever, it doesn't matter either way. I just don't think this is something you see too often here. Doesn't make it a big deal or some terrible thing; just relatively unusual.

Weird that I remember this, but the first time I seen the beer dump I was about 7 or 8 years old. Somebody dumped a beer on Brian Jordan of the Cardinals during a day game at a play by the wall.

IIRC, he got really pissed too.

Of course he got pissed. It's a trash thing to do.

I wonder why there's a bigger focus on this than the team ? :-k

Uhhhh, five game loosing streak? Would you rather talk about that some more?

I really don't understand what's douchy or wrong with a plain white t-shirt. The rest, sure.

There's nothing wrong with it, I was just picking out everything I could.

Gotcha. That was hitting a little too close to home; a white-t and jeans is standard casual fair for me.

Why are people acting like this is the first time this has ever happened?

I thought the coverage was bizarre. Deadspin ran with it hardcore because they are run by a Phillies fan who took personal offense to the matter. The week before they ran the story about the Phillies fans who killed another fan, and his first reaction was that it's unfair to talk about Philly fans the way people do, and then they went hardcore after this fan for throwing a beer. It happens a lot. It's a douche move, and I don't have any sympathy for the idiot, but the reaction was over the top, when compared to how people react to other things.
