I also enjoy the thread title for making it sound like Aaron Miles got lost in the wilderness.

We can only hope.....

Maybe he heard banjos playing in the distance............

still angry that Miles is going to rejoin the team this year

I'm really really hoping that Lou doesn't give him any at bats unless its the 15th inning and we need a pinch hitter

I really didn't want to see Aaron Piles ever again. :x

Madness. I would love to see him play again. Just not for the Cubs.

At least Fontenot did something good every once in a while. Now we have 3 auto-outs in the line-up again. No, wait, let me take that back. 2 auto-outs. 'Cuz you now, the pitcher might get a hit or walk.

I dont know about the rest of you, but Im really glad hes coming back. Wait, Miles is the catcher, right?

Seriously? Everyone knows that he is more usefull filling in for Marmol in the event that we need to use Carlos as the backup catcher. He threw a perfect eighth for the cardinals last year so makes sense to me.

I don't think Miles will be taking much PT from the Fontenot/Baker platoon.

Now he might be in at SS tonight with Theriot's bruise on his arm.

I'm so glad that our back-up shortstop couldn't even OPS .600 at AAA. This is going to be the shot in the arm that this team needed!

Yeah, I'd have to guess Theriot is going to get a day off. Miles at SS is pretty disappointing though. He may not hit any worse than Blanco, but he can't really play the position. I wish that thought about sending down the redundant Fuld before magically DLing Blanco, when he's the only legit backup SS on the roster.

Fuld is the only legit backup CF on the roster. He's not completely redundant.

I tend to agree about Blanco/Miles. At 2B, Miles's offensive advantage wins out because he's decent defensively there. At SS, Blanco has such a huge advantage defensively (from good to very good in his case to horrible for Miles) that Blanco is a better SS option.

And if they weren't going to get rid of Blanco, then they were going to have to find another person to go besides Fuld+ the pitcher that will be leaving.

So it looks like the Cubs are going to be playing with a 24 man roster again....Cool.

Fontenot we REALLY need you to get hot. Baker we really need you to start hitting.

But Fuld is not a legit major leaguer, and it's much more important to have a guy who can play SS instead of a dedicated backup CF. There are realistic options for CF, including sending Soriano over and playing Fox or somebody else in left.

Perspective on how bad Miles have been:

Nefti Perez: .681 and .610 OPS in 2005-06 with the Cubs.

Delino Deshields: .600 OPS in his last major league season.

Stynes: .688 OPS in 2002

Lenny Harris: OPS was .484 in 1/2 season with the Cubs and .506 over the course of the season.

Boom Boom: Even Freddie was OPS of .764 during his one yr in Chicago.

Not only has Miles been bad, he's been as epic bad as any player in recent memory. So why isn't he released, because Hendry thinks there is still a place on the team for a no glove/no stick/no speed MI who is filled with grit.
