Why is Valverde allowed as much time to warm up as he wants? Shouldn't the Astros be punished by having to bring someone in immediately?

 

What Erik said..the risk of injury would be too great to the pitcher coming in if he isn't properly warm.

FWIW, Gameday backs up LaTroy on at least 3 of those balls.

 

That last one looked like a strike to me, too. But Pudge really dropped low to take it.

I've never understood how umpires are supposed to be able to judge breaking balls low in the zone. you just can't see it from that angle

Yeah, I'll bet he just looked at Pudge drop down and figured it missed.
