I really hate having to watch the Nationals' broadcast of these games. Their announcers - Bob Carpenter and Rob freaking Dibble - are just terrible.

It was fun listening to Carpenter basically rip the Cubs for giving up on Juan Pierre, implying that he was a great leadoff hitter for them in 2006 because he led the league in hits. They criticized the Cubs usage of Soriano in the leadoff spot because of his low OBP, despite the fact that Soriano's OBP in his first two years with the Cubs (.337 and .344) was higher than what Pierre had in 2006 (.330).

They talked about how Reed Johnson has been given the leadoff spot, and how it was questionable to have a guy with only one stolen base batting first. They didn't even mention the fact that Johnson is on the short end of a platoon in CF, not the everyday starter.

David Kaplan said last year that Reed should leadoff every day, so it's not just bad out of town announcers.

What do you want to know ?? It's a little wide spot on the road about 5 miles due east of Conroe, TX on Hwy 105. They're building Conroe High School here, and I've been sitting here all day while they try to unload this shipment of lockers. I've already missed my appointment (1330) to pick up my next load down in Houston..... so I may be stuck here all weekend !! Reminds me a whole lot of Toad Suck, AR. (I spent a hell of a week there one night.) You hear about the guy from Chicago who got cancer, and the doctor told him he only had 6 months to live ??? Yeah, well he moved to Cut And Shoot, TX so it would seem like 2 years !!

I assume this happened when he awkwardly stepped on first base last Saturday. Probably why he didn't play in the All-Star game. We simply cannot afford this to be a serious injury.

It would also explain why he didn't start Thursday - when he would have been on normal rest.
