I guess 3.5 back and a .500 record is pretty good considering May and June.

Uhhh... I think anything less than 5 games over .500 is a HUGE disappointment for this team.

I know the minute my excitement level for the 2009 Cubs starts to go up a bit, the Cubs are going to immediately lose. Stupid average baseball team.

ludwick is the anti-cub this year:

bases empty: .211/.279/.391/.669

runners on: .299/.371/.533/.904

RISP: .338/.398/.648/1.045

i noticed that the other day while trying to figure out how a guy with such mediocre slash stats had 50+ RBI before the ASB.

We've had our full team like once or twice this year and Aramis still isn't hitting and Soriano's can't be 100% with his knee either.

No team is ever really 100%, to be fair.

But how many teams lose their best player for 1.5 months?

Exactly... this 2009 team was supposed to have so much depth. Obviously this is not the case... This team was favored to win the NL Central and NL overall by a wide margin... look where we are now.

Just keep pitching to Ludwick and Pujols even though they have nobody behind them.

well rasmus keeps getting on base; i'm not sure it's a great idea to walk two guys in a row and intentionally load the bases even if ankiel and yadi suck ass.

Ok, that's true but every team doesn't have most of their best players hurt in a way that hurts their effectiveness throughout the season. It feels like we have had at least one key player hurt for every game this year.

HE [expletive] BLOCKED THE BALL ON PURPOSE... WHAT THE [expletive]?!?!?!?

yes i'm sure a righthanded pitcher intentionally put his hand up to block a hard throw from the shortstop to first baseman.

In the heat of action its not like he was really thinking oh crap this is my pitching hand. Its like when there is a liner back up the middle and the pitcher reaches out to catch it with their pitching hand. Its a bang bang thing that you really dont have time to think about it possible hurting your hand.
