Geez, if I was an Indians fan, I'd hate to see DeRosa talk about his desire to be on another team. But as a Cub fan, awesome

"The best two years of my career were spent in that clubhouse and it's good to be back," DeRosa said. "I circled this date on the calendar the day I was moved."

DeRosa was asked the same "what do you miss most?" question and, like Wood, he didn't hesitate.

"Being a Cub," he said. "You can't take it for granted. This is a special place."

I almost want him to "get over it" so to say because it pains me to keep reading those comments. I'm not one of the biggest "trading DeRo was the biggest mistake ever" guys, but I am a Mark DeRosa fan, and would have had absolutely no problem being on this team.

I think DeRosa will be back some day. Unfortunately it will probably be as a washed up free agent. I love DeRo though and wish he was still on the team.

I think Neuby said the other day when I was talking with him after the Sox/Cubs rainout, but it might have been someone else, DeRosa has become our Aaron Rowand. It makes perfect sense. Both were given a ton of credit for the team's success and the success was said to be beyond the box score, and both teams blamed their departures for the team's struggles the following season. Fans of both teams will continue to hold out hope that DeRo/Rowand will be reacquired by the team. The big difference is that the Sox actually got major league talent for trading Rowand (Thome), while the Cubs got some minor league arms. My guess is DeRosa will never be a Cub again. I can't see him fitting into the team's plans again in the future after trading him.

I really can't see DeRo coming back, but I think it'd be kind of cool if Kerry and the Cubs agreed to a deal when Wood was going to retire so he could retire a Cub (do they do that in baseball?). Obviously it doesn't mean anything, but I think it'd be a nice gesture on both sides.

And I still think Woody ends up on the Rangers at some point before he retires.

Except you dumped said ex-girlfriend in the hopes that one of your buddies was gonna break up with the girl of our dreams

then the girl of your dreams broke her elbow or something and now is on the DL

That might be the saddest baseball quote Ive ever read. Seriously, just see what they want for him. Id sure hate to see him in a Cardinals uniform, which is a likely scenerio in the next few weeks.

God, I hate Jim Hendry.

Exactly, and that's a big difference, imo. If the Cubs got an awesome return for DeRosa, I'd be ok with it. However, you basically took one of the Cubs most valuable players and, in effect, received nothing in return for him. The White Sox got Jim freaking Thome, a better player.

DeRosa played a huge role in last year's success and wasn't replaced, not even close. And it wasn't so we could get Bradley, based on the subsequent moves (Gathright, Miles, Gaudin) we clearly could have afforded both.

Basically received nothing that will help this year(though I could see Stevens doing something in the pen), but Archer and Gaub(along with Stevens) are at least interesting prospects.

Indeed. It's not the deal itself that's the bad part, just that Hendry did such a poor job replacing what DeRosa brought to the team.
