If you're not surprised that Bradley has a .722 OPS after two months, you're insane.

Why would anyone be surprised that playing the field may impact his at bats? He was a DH last year and hit fine. Fresh legs work wonders.

It is not unrealistic to think that a player who never has more than 300 AB a season and who recently became a DH might be impacted by wear and tear.

Bradley has had more than 300 ABs 5 times in his 10 year career.

Right that was a "mistype". What I meant was he averages 300 AB a year and has only had over 500 AB once in his career.

I would hate to see what your keyboard looks like in order to create a 'mistype' like that.

Ah, ok.

I'm sure its already been discussed in this thread, but signing an injury-prone player with a bad temper who hits better right-handed than he does left makes no sense considering we were looking for a left-handed bat. What is his career OPS hitting left-handed? Mid-700s? I assume the main reason for not signing Dunn is his defense, yet we put Hoffpauir out in RF? Bradley ain't exactly a gold glover out there either. Hendry is so maddening sometimes.

If Jim Hendry even looks at splits, he's probably only doing it for last season. In which case he's imprsesed by his batting average and RBI

He's a career .793 OPS hitter as a lefty. As a righty, he's at an .889 OPS.

The last three years he's OPSd .940, .937 and .793 as a lefty.

Best line of the year...

There were 29,669 people at Minute Maid Park last night, and Bradley left them all on base. - Bruce Miles

i want him to either get hurt or start hitting. except for early in his career he's hit when he's been healthy; it's pissing me off that he's getting hurt AND not hitting when he is healthy.

then again, this seems to be the year when everyone underachieves on offense so maybe he's just trying to fit in.

Yeah, the man is really starting to frustrate me now. It's just as frustrating to watch as I'm sure it is for him to experience it first hand.

Get some freaking good wood on the damn ball, come on. I'm sick of Bradley missing his pitch, fouling crap back, then looking at strike 3 or hitting a weak ball. Square up on some crap. NOW.

i think the title of this thread can just be made permanent

Yeah, that's what I was thinking ... "Bradley ** INSERT INJURY HERE ** (Could Go on DL.)"

I don't think he's really healthy. I think he's hurting and Lou would rather play him at 80% or so than DL him. It's hard to blame him, given how limited our replacement options are. But would it really be that bad to play Fukudome against LHP?

Seems like every time he hits a ball on the ground and has to move past first gear trying to get to first, he pulls something. You could almost hear the frustration in Len's voice during the game last night when he pulled up lame again running to first.

The signing of Milton Bradley is shaping up to be Jim Hendry's biggest gaffe ever.

Let us pause for a moment to consider the magnitude of that statement.

MB isn't even the biggest gaffe on the team, much less Hendry's biggest gaffe.

I don't think it's hard to blame him at all. Fox and Hoffpauir can platoon in RF, and Fukudome can play more often against LHP if necessary. It's not like he's keeping a productive bat in the lineup despite injury. He's keeping a guy who can't hit worth a crap and is a clumsy bastard in the OF. Plus, it's in the best interest of the organization if Bradley does not play in games in which he is not 100%.

Yeah, I'd rather have Fox up and Bradley on the DL than have him out there in his current state. I'd rather see Fukudome play every day with Hoff in RF against RHP and Johnson in CF against LHP than a Fox/Hoff platoon. But Hendry doesn't seem to want to DL Bradley for nagging injuries and Lou has shown no interest in playing Fukudome against LHP.

This thing is such a mess.

Put Bradley on the DL and let him fully recover (or at least whatever passes as "fully recovered" for him), then bring him back right after the All-Star break. Perhaps he can have a productive half season and contribute to the pennant drive.

They've tread water without Ramirez, and essentially without Bradley so far. Your idea pretty much leaves them in the same position they are already in, and theoretically makes them better in the 2nd half.

Exactly what I was thinking. Getting back a productive Ramirez and Bradley for the stretch drive would be like making a couple of deadline trades without giving anything up.

Doesn't Milton have a games-played clause this season that guarantees the final year of his contract? I'm guessing he'd be against going on the DL so he can reach that limit.
