I figure we're overdue for one of these anyway, but...

Currently, Rafa Nadal is losing in the 4th round of the French Open to 23rd ranked Robin Soderling 2 sets to 1. The one set he did win was in a tiebreaker.

Please please please pull it out soderling. They are in a fourth set tiebreak.

For those of you who don't know, Nadal has never lost at the French Open.

This is by far Federer's best chance to complete a career Grand Slam and I hope he does it.

i'm actually hoping that roddick wins it, which would be way more amazing.

With Djokovic and Nadal out, I'd say this would be Roddick's best shot at one, except that he's in the wrong half of the bracket.

Also, on the women's side, an unseeded Maria Sharapova is through to the quarters with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 victory over the 25 seed.

What do you think the odds, before the French started, were that Roddick got farther than Nadal?

Nadal had never lost at the French and Roddick had never gotten past the third round. Of course, Roddick has to win tomorrow for it to happen.

How is Maria unseeded? Has she been out for a bit?

Yeah, she was injured all last year and hasn't looked very good since she's been back (I mean, tennis-wise). She really has a good shot to make the semis, though, since Venus Williams was knocked out of her quarter.

I would love to see Federer win this to cement his place among the best to ever play, but I wish he would have went through Nadal to do it. Seems like as fans we were cheated out of that moment.

Federer dropped the first two sets this morning before rallying to beat unseeded Tommy Haas 6-7,5-7,6-4,6-0,6-2. Roddick has yet to play, but if he can beat 11th seed Frenchman Gael Monfils, he'd play Federer next.

I would probably say that Monfils is going to be a decent favorite to win this one. He can run down any shot and a real good on clay. Of course if Roddick has his serve going he can win with almost that alone. Either way this is probably going to be a long match.

They had a special yesterday morning on Chang being the 20 year anniversary from him winning the French and his match vs. Lendl which is still one of the greatest ever up there with Sampras throwing up, and Connors making the semi's in the US Open when he was like 45 it seemed like.

Monfils up a set and a break in the second.

Make that two breaks in the second. Roddick is getting smoked.

Murray goes down as well and Soderling kicks the crap out of Davydenko.

Soderling reminds me of Tsonga and Gonzalez at the Aussie a couple years ago (Tsonga the year after) where they got hot and were rolling guys on the way to the final. Of course, neither one ended up winning the title.

Roddick was never going to win the French

This is true. The US Open will remain his best chance to win another major. I can't believe he is still only 26 though.

Federer down 2-1 to del Potro.

Of course, NBC's coverage is showing a replay of the Soderling-Gonzalez match rather than this match live.
