That 15 on his jacket was extremely obnoxious

I thought so too, but I bet that was a Nike thing and not Federer's idea.

I'd almost guarantee it was a Nike thing. He doesn't seem like the type of guy who would suggest doing something like that.

IIRC, the TV person had to point it out during the on-court interview after he got his trophy and he just kind of said "Oh yeah" and not much else when she asked him about the jacket and if there was a 15 on the back of it. I think if it was his idea, he would not only have pointed it out but have said more about it than he did.

He still wore the damn thing. Who cares where the idea originated? He doesn't have to dress like a jackass.

A 10 year, $130 million contract could say otherwise. I'll dress like a jackass every day of the week for that.

18-year-old unranked Melanie Oudin (OK, she's ranked #70...but unranked in the tournament) just upset #4 Elena Dementieva 5-7,6-4,6-3. With #1 Dinara Safina struggling mightily, and the #2/3 Williams sisters on the other half of the bracket, the other finals spot is pretty much wide open for the taking at this point on the women's side.

Oudin's next opponent will likely be Maria Sharapova.

Oudin made some noise in the French. She's fun to watch.

EDIT: I meant Wimbledon. And apparently she is 17.

Melanie Oudin beat Sharapova today in 3 sets. Yet another Russian up next, #14 Nadia Petrova.

Querrey lost this afternoon, and Roddick dropped the first two sets to John Isner before winning the third.

Roddick finally broke Isner with his last chance to do so in the fourth and took the set 7-5. Isner looks tired, interesting to see if he has anything left.

Melania Oudin beats yet another Russian, #13 Nadia Petrova, 1-6,7-5,6-3 in the fourth round to make the quarters. She was dead in the water down a set and two breaks, but finally managed to hold serve a few times, got back into the second set, and broke Petrova's last 4 games in the third to win.

Oudin wins again!! I'm liking this story alot.

Women's tennis is far better viewing than Men's. They actually have volleys with the women.

Do you mean rallies? She is a great story, and we are due for something new in the tennis world men's or women's.

Depends on the match. Watching one of the Williams sisters play, there are very few rallies (worst case scenario is when they play each other). On the mens side, any strong server is going to have few rallies (eg. Roddick, Isner, Karlovic). A player like Federer or Nadal is likely to get into more rallies just because they get to so many balls.

I do find it a little funny that every player she's played has been Russian, and she could play yet another Russian, Kuznetsova, next round.

I'm just amazed by the difference between the mens' and women's seeded players.

On the men's side, of the final 16, 14 were ranked in the top 16, one was No. 24 and one was unranked.

On the women's side, only 7 of the final 16 were ranked in the top 16 and there were six unranked players still alive. In the top half of the women's draw, there's guaranteed to be an unranked player in the semis and three of the four are unranked.

Some men's matches have rallies, it just depends on the players.

The Nadal-Verdasco match in the Australian Open had enough rallies for about three whole matches.

Liking women's tennis more than men's tennis is like preferring the WNBA

Terrible comparison.

Yeah, not at all. The technology has ruined the men's game. I read an article about this in (yeah, I know) The New Yorker recently.

The only problem I have with the women's game is the gratuitous grunting. Venus did it the other day while hitting a drop shot. Seriously? It's just silly.

Yeah, the grunting amongst some of them is horrific. I'm glad Oudin doesn't do that.

btw, when does she play that hot Danish girl? I can't seem to find a time on the net.

Match schedule hasn't been set yet, but I imagine since she's the only American playing that day (Serena Williams plays today), she'll be on Ashe at primetime (7pm ET).

EDIT: Since there are only 3 other singles matches planned, and they've generally been giving primetime slots to one womens and one mens singles match, and the other womens singles match is Wickmayer/Bondarenko, I'd almost guarantee she's on at 7pm ET.

But one of those is Clijsters, so I'm not sure she should count.

Actually, none of those is Clijsters, as she's the only unranked player in the bottom half of the draw.
