This is crazy good. Federer can't win if he can't break Roddick's serve. ARod's gotta still be kicking himself for blowing the 5-1 and 6-2 tiebreakers.

now this is a tradtional wimbledon championship, screw rallies.

Just in effort to conserve energy screw them.

First to 20 wins?

Is this a new Andy Roddick we're seeing though? Is he going to be playing deep into these things more often now?

I think so. I think he will be a real force in NY.

That was epic.

I feel for Roddick because he played about as well as he possibly could.

He served really well, which he had to do, but he didn't just leave it at that. He backed it up with solid groundstrokes and his backhand was great the whole match - and that's something that has hurt him so often in the past. He was able to break Federer's serve a couple times and didn't allow himself to be broken until the worst possible moment.

Federer didn't play his best. He served really well and had a ton of aces but his groundstrokes weren't as good as they can be. Credit goes to Roddick for never allowing Federer to get on much of a roll, which is a death sentence for most players against Federer.

Roddick got a few breaks, most notably in the first set at 5-5 when Federer had three or four balls land less than an inch wide, but didn't quite get enough. The first set breaks were evened out by Roddick blowing the second set tiebreaker. It could have very easily been 2-0 for either player but 1-1 after two sets seemed fair.

Roddick should be really happy with his performance at Wimbledon and there wasn't much more he could do today. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for him and I'd love for him to get back to more major finals again.

That's also three straight great finals at Wimbledon. I could get used to this.

Too bad Federer lost at the Australian Open, he would be going for a Grand Slam at the U.S. Open. He'd also already have a calender slam in holding all four majors at one time.

Roddick looks like he legitimately has improved his backhand, fitness, and net game. We have all heard those things for many years, but he looks to have turned a corner now.

The backhand was what really impressed me. He ripped a number of passing shots with his backhand that he used to either hit well wide or hit weakly over the net so his opponent can put away an easy volley.

i hate federer.

I really respected him until I saw him standing there in that lobby before the match started in that ridiculous outfit.

it's not that i don't respect him, it's just that i hate him. but i guess when you're that good at something you can wear whatever you want.

he pulled it out this time, but he would have gotten smoked by nadal at 100% yesterday.

I really disagree with this, Nadal is not that much better than him if any to say he would have been smoked. I think you are underestimating just how great Roddick played yesterday.

If Nadal was healthy and played his best, he probably wins in four sets since Federer didn't play his best. But if Nadal was off a little bit as Federer was, it could have been another great five setter.

That 15 on his jacket was extremely obnoxious

I thought so too, but I bet that was a Nike thing and not Federer's idea.

I'd almost guarantee it was a Nike thing. He doesn't seem like the type of guy who would suggest doing something like that.

IIRC, the TV person had to point it out during the on-court interview after he got his trophy and he just kind of said "Oh yeah" and not much else when she asked him about the jacket and if there was a 15 on the back of it. I think if it was his idea, he would not only have pointed it out but have said more about it than he did.

He still wore the damn thing. Who cares where the idea originated? He doesn't have to dress like a jackass.
