I was only partially listening during Reed's HR, but was McCarver talking about how the wind was blowing in even though it looked (to me) that the flags were blowing across from right to left and therefore kind of out to LF?

He then went on to talk about how you can't hit the ball under the wind. Really interesting stuff.

Shut up about Sean Marshall, Tim. Just shut up.

I'll probably regret asking, but what's he saying? (game blacked-out where I am)

He's talking about Harden coming back and Marshall being moved to the bullpen as if it's a given.

I really, really hope that is not going to happen.

I bet you it will.

If there was any doubt, the way Wells has pitched has pretty much cemented it. Between that and Lou's obsession with L/R matchups, I'd put it at like 90%.

Gameday has the winds blowing out. The flags look like they are blowing out. Posters here have said the wind is blowing out.

So McCarver thinks its blowing in.

O.k., thanks..

FWIW, I agree that moving Marshall to the 'pen would be stupid, though prior to the most recent moves, I opined in a game thread that Marshall to the 'pen would be a price I was willing to pay if it meant Cotts was sent away. Now that Cotts is gone, however, I want to have my cake & eat it too--Marshall should stay in the rotation

The next time someone comes up from the minors, David Patton had better be the casualty. I'm tired of playing one man down.

I love it when baseball announcers give us science lessons. I learn all sorts of things I never did in grade school, high school, or college.

I know McCarver said tons of stupid crap so I just wanted to make sure I was hearing him correctly.

Tim just said Soriano played 2B for the Nationals and apparently is unaware he was in Texas for two seasons.

He just made it even better by saying Soriano was a 2B with the Yankees and then for a while with the Nationals before moving to LF with the Cubs.

I wish they wouldn't limit it to just that. Think if Tim was allowed to have the sex talk with the viewers.

I want Tim McCarver lecturing me on the nuances of a Chapter 11 filing for GM and Chrysler.

GT ain't the place for this 'roid discussion, but let me add this one thing FYI....I did a little checking on stats to see if I could find any sort of pattern in users. What I found was quite interesting.

McGwire, Bonds, Sosa, Palmero and ALL the usual suspects had a career year in strike outs in their best HR year. I then looked at the past greats Ruth, Dimag, Hack Wilson, you name 'em. To a man there was no difference in K's. Not a single one of them. The coincedence was too great to ignore.

So with a heavy heart the last player I looked up was Junior. Guess what? His career S.O. Ave. was 80. His bust out HR year he struck out 121 times, a higher increase than all of 'em. You can look it up. :(

With a little time to reflect, it's kind of unbelievable that Tim somehow thinks Chicago was the first place Soriano played left. For that matter, he didn't even start off in left.
