I'm not too worried about this tender letter issue. The league isn't going to screw the Hawks, regardless of what Cyno might say. Speaking of which, is he banned or just in hibernation?

Also, Jackets re-signed Nash for big money. I'm not sure he's worth $8M/year for a couple years, let alone seven.

I'm pretty sure he would've said something about Hossa and Havlat's departure by now.

Has there been a press conference scheduled for Hossa's welcoming yet? I wanna know what jersey # he's gonna pick so I can get my jersey shirt ordered. I assume he'll go back to 18, but you never know.

He's using 81 and Kopecky is getting 82... at least that was the initial thought.

Interesting, thanks.

Been pretty busy... looking for a house.

Hossa is for sure better than Havlat, but by how much? It's a definite upgrade but not as much as some people are trying to make it out to be.

Madden over Pahlsson is a way bigger upgrade.

It's like I sent out a batcall! There he is! :D

I consider Hossa to be a significant upgrade over Havlat, when you factor in that we just got the best we were ever going to get from Havlat. He was highly motivated, and I think his attitude after he was cut loose is more evidence the decision was a good one.

And this won't come as a surprise, but I agree with you about Madden being an upgrade over Pahlsson. Good riddance.

Upgrade over Havlet and the Redwings will not be getting an upgrade over Hossa. I love the move.

Yep... the downgrade to the Wings is bigger than the upgrade to the Hawks. Which is pretty awesome because we're going to be battling the Wings in the West again this year... and if not... no skin off my back.

Sources tell TSN the NHL and the NHLPA are investigating what might have been an enormous mistake by the Chicago Blackhawks.

Chicago tendered qualifying offers to several key players this week, including Kris Versteeg, Cam Barker, Ben Eager, Colin Fraser, Aaron Johnson and Troy Brouwer, however the investigation underway is to determiner whether the qualifying offers were filed correctly.

If not, there is the remote possibility the qualifying offers could be ruled invalid and the players listed above, conceivably, could be deemed unrestricted free agents because of the blunder.

This was on the cover of the Sports page today in the Tribune. Hawks brass think it will be worked out... if it's not... losing Versteeg and Barker would pretty much eff us realllllllly hard.

Personally, I think this is much ado about nothing. Tallon wasn't trying to screw players, and it is clearly wasn't malicious. This was a honest to god mistake by the organization, and I believe NHL isn't going to severely punish the Hawks for a clerical mistake.

It's not about "punishment." By the rules, you either file a valid qualifying offer or they become UFAs.

Will apparently Tallon claims they did, but they didn't take into consideration "Canada Day."

Which makes no sense, because the deadline this year was June 29.

I'm only going by what I heard. And again, I don't think much will come of this, to be honest.

Haven't had time to do this yet, but here they are... highlights of our recent pickups!

MARIAN HOSSA

I could watch this goal over and over and over and over... such a beauty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQ3tJRzatG4

Hossa vs. Suter... the announcer is wrong, this is NOT his first fight... I remember one he had when he was on the Thrashers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQ3tJRzatG4

TOMAS KOPECKY

(this is the guy I'm most excited about (and I know most Hawks fans couldn't give two shits who the hell he is)... I love his potential and he is the guy I see having a breakout season with the Hawks)

Kopecky puts that punk ass bitch Gauthier through the glass... glad someone did:

Kopecky completely levels (cleanly) Mathieu Carle. Of course he is a little french crybaby embellisher who has to lay on the ice and play dead to draw a penalty... God I hate the Habs:

Datsyuk with the sick feed to Kopecky who pulls off a sick drag move followed by a backhand shot... this kid is going to be good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gISSCr4Mo8Q

JOHN MADDEN

Madden with the nice bank shot off of Patrick Roy's pads: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6JhxC_fA0Y

Madden gets stonewalled on a breakaway causing him to get pissed. At 2:05 he gets a short handed chance and DESTROYS Eddie Belfour!:

Welcome back Cyno...I'm glad your not house hunting anymore. It was hard to keep up with the Hawks news without you. I think we all missed your reaction when Hossa signed. Can you pretend you first heard the news and make a post with your reaction please.

"Hawks are interested in signing Hossa"

--"No way..."

"Hawks and Hossa close to deal"

--"No way..."

"Hawks land Hossa for 12 years 5.2mil"

--"WHAT THE [expletive]????"

I was at work when I heard the news... and initially I couldn't believe it and I was ecstatic... I was probably like many of you and sent out a massive 50 person text to everyone even if they didn't know what a Hossa was...

When it sunk in a bit I realized it was a definite upgrade but not as big as the "name" suggests given that we had Havlat last year. I am stoked about all three of our signings and I think all three are going to play a huge role in the Hawks CUP run of 09-10. Madden/Hossa both add the element of Veteran leadership... Madden with two Stanley Cup wins and Hossa... well, Hossa is a Veteran presence too.

Hossa > Havlat

Madden > Pahlsson

And I see Kopecky with a breakout year... the Hawks only got better with these moves.

I'm more interested in your reaction when you saw Crosby lift the cup. Care to share?

After Bettman's speech I could only laugh about how awful it was...

Well.... now we all know what team the Pens play for... and it's definitely the "other team"... not that there's anything wrong with that... but it is what it is. Who is that going for Crosby's junk?

This picture was taken after Crosby's three twisted teas that Guerin bought him as a joke... Crosby didn't get it and proceeded to drunkenly puke in the Cup.

They've busted others for clerical mistakes. The NFL busted the Bears on a clerical mistake. It's a simple procedure that everybody gets right most of the time. Why did these idiots send this in normal mail? Is that where they are cutting costs?

Exactly. This is like Angelo's missed checkbox error all over again. I'm thinking the Hawks could be in trouble here.

It's unbelievable that they wouldn't be sending things like this with some sort of certification and guaranteed delivery timeline.

Someone is getting fired here regardless.
