Daytona is actually playing tonight. Castro gets another single and gets thrown out stealing in the top of first, then Cashner quickly gives up a couple of hits and a run in the bottom, although he got through the entire inning with no walks, wild pitches, or hit batters. He's had an extended break through the rain. I'm going to guess he'll be able to get in three innings today, perhaps even sneak in four under his pitch count.

I think Cales is either pretty overmatched or pretty badly out of rhythm at Tennessee. He's allowed 5 hits already and hasn't gotten out of his first inning.

Cales ends up scattering 7 hits and 4 runs over his inning, Tennessee down 6-2.

Daytona has now buzzed through three innings, and Cashner with his best outing yet, he's allowed 3 hits through 3, but has gotten 3 K's without any walks, wild pitches, or hit batters. He's gotten one popout, but otherwise all the other balls in play have been groundouts or hits on the ground. Nice. Not to jinx him, but he's got a chance to go four today.

Brandon Guyer hit his first AA home run, good to see.

Cashner has now gone a career high 5 innings. 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 7 GO-3 FO. No HRs, no BBs, no HBPs, no WPs and it's not surprising that he gets into the 5th and 5th inning.

Tennessee gets 3 each in each of the last two innings to rally to an 8-6 game in the opener.

Daytona's game is on a record pace for speed, and cashner has lasted through 5 innings, with 5K/0BB/0WP/0HBP/3 hits, two of them in the first inning. He finally allowed a couple of flyouts in the 5th, which may suggest he's tired.

Peoria in a "rain delay".

Daytona got beat in the bottom of the ninth 3-2. Had Daytona been able to turn a dp they would have sent it to extras...however the runner at first was safe and the runner from thrid scored.

Chris Carpenter apparently only pitched one inning today for Peoria. :-s

He K'd all three he faced after we started 54 minutes late...the skies opened up mid 1 and after a 49 minute delay Carpenter was done with Beliveau in.

Thanks for that. I wasn't sure if the game started normally with the rain coming down to delay it or if the start got delayed.

Having fun watching Vitters? :D

I'm really liking Kyler Burke this year. He'd be pretty exciting if he was able to stick at CF.

I was really big on him when we got him, he was pretty highly touted coming out of HS in the draft. I was surprised the Padres gave up on him so early/easily. He hasn't been great with us for the majority of the time he has been here but he seems to be turning around and coming through on his potential. He just turned 21 so A ball is about the right level for him, hopefully he can get to AA by July.
