Guess who hit his 17th home run and got his 49th RBI? Yeah, that guy.

He's also starting at catcher and has 2 passed balls through 6 innings. :-s

Jeremy Papelbon to the Tennessee DL. Jake Muyco was promoted from Daytona to Tennessee and pitched today.

Well, you know how wild Mathes can be with those two walks.

Ryno got tossed today...again. Seems like SS Darwin Barney was arguing balls and strikes during Game 2's 7th inning with Ryno getting into the thick of the argument.

home run #6 for vitters, he's a triple away from the cycle in the 4th inning. he's blowing up the past couple of weeks; .368/.398/.584 on the year and .435/.453/.806 in may.

Hopefully he can get a promotion to high A by mid/end of June and maybe even get into AA by the end of the year. Should be interesting to see how aggressive the Cubs are with promoting him. I would think, barring any injuries or severe slumps, Vitters should be in AA full time by June/July of next year.

3 perfect 5 K innings for Kevin Hart. Looks like hes remembering how not to be completely awful.

I don't know if I'd ever trust the guy.

I could. His stuff has always looked good. I think it's just a matter of figuring it out like he had in the past.

Hart has 25K/6BB in 20 innings, normally we'd be gung-ho about a guy with those peripherals. Add in a 2.3 GO/AO ratio and we'd normally love it.

He's given up a very high BABIP (unlucky?), and despite the GO/AO ratio, he's given up too many HR's (3 in 20 innings).

I wouldn't be surprised if he puts together a nice run, and some of his bad luck bounces back with some good luck.

Or maybe his stuff is such that he just can't get any popups or routine flyballs, that either it's a groundball or else a rocket.

Yesterday's game reminds me that I'm still interested.

I would say there is probably zero chance Vitters is in AA by the end of the year, and I highly doubt he would get promoted to high A in June. Maybe towards the end of the year he gets a promotion to high A, but I wouldnt think itd happen in June.

I think Vitters will be in Daytona by next month. July at the latest. The guy nearly started the season with Daytona.

And I could see a situation where he's at AA to finish the season depending on playoff races.

Good point. Assuming Vitters is promoted to Daytona, if Daytona is not in an August playoff race and is not going to be in September playoffs, but Tennessee is, I think it's not only possible but probable that Vitters would go up to Tennessee.

They routinely promote interesting prospects in August to teams that are experiencing a playoff race or that will be experiencing extra playoff games and playoff pressure. I think that's a good move. Prospects get more games in which to play, they get exposed to teammates and coaches that they'll work with before and during the ensuing season, and they get exposed to playing under a little more pressure. Win-win-win.

My goodness, that Sandberg is a piece of work. Constantly arguing with umpires and getting ejected. He is so disrespectful. Minor league umpires hardly make any money. They're just the common working man and they have to deal with this jerk of a millionaire who never gives to charity and thinks his stuff don't stink.

I hope this arrogant, pompous, creep never manages in the bigs. Anyone who disrespects minor league umpires should be fired. The minor leagues are all about helping the kids become major leaguers. Then again, he never cared about his own kids - why should he care about others. Silly me.

Barry Bonds is an ANGEL compared to Sandberg the horrible.

Anyone know why Blake Lalli finished the game yesterday for Tennessee? He took the loss in a 1-run game. Did they run out of pitchers or something?

Surely we can't judge the guy on 2 passed balls since he hasn't caught since when?!? Who cares about his fielding for now...he needs some big league at-bats to prove he can hit. And if he can, then surely an AL team would want the bat!
