did you miss watching ryan braun give away runs at third base last year? well wait til you get a load of this guy!

but seriously, a lineup of:

weeks

hart

braun

fielder

cameron

gamel

hardy

kendall

pitcher

is pretty beastly. hopefully their pitching and bad defense will be a disaster.

(gamel will probably only play in a platoon for now)

My guess is that they're hoping that Gamel can do a respectable job at 3rd and they can move Hall for pitching. They might want to bring up Escobar, because Hall and Hardy together could net them something decent.

Gamel's a worse defensive third baseman than Braun was. Stop and think about that for a second.

Word is they're calling him up now because they've got some interleague games coming up and they could use Gamel at DH. Wouldn't be the worst idea in the world, imo.

Jake Fox .420/.500/.955/1.455 15HR

Mat Gamel .336/.428/.647/1.075 8HR

Im just saying, we have interleague games coming up too.

Now while I hate to mercilously beat a dead horse:

Ryan Howard: 61 Games .371/467/.690/1.157 16HR

Ryan Braun: 34 Games .342/.418/.701/1.119 10HR

Prince Fielder: 103 Games .297/.395/.524/.919 28 HR

These are the lines from the final partial minor league season of some of the top young sluggers in baseball today. Fox has them well eclipsed. When the ASB comes around, if Jakes numbers look anything like they do now, I really hope hes been called up or traded.

We did this in '07 with Soto. We should probably be trying to ride out Fox's hot streak.

Its a 30 game hot streak. If he was 23 or 24 year old theyd be doing all they could to get him up. For some reason since hes 2 or 3 years older than your average prospect, he couldnt possibly be legit. A slump for him has been 2 games without a home run. His numbers are better than the ones that had us clammoring for Micah Hoffpauir last year.

Part of it is that he's 26, but also there's no position to put him at. He'd have to produce like crazy on offense (which he might, but it's no sure thing) to make up for his defense.

If we could find a way to trade DLee (which we can't) the option would arise to platoon Fox at 1B with Hoff, but that's not open right now.

From what I hear, Carlos Delgado is injured and could miss an extended priod of time.

Like Lee would ever want to go to New York.

Fox is in the same position as Hoffpauir was last year. Everything he does is something that Hoffpauir already does and so he's stuck. If an injury happens that DL's Soriano, Bradley, or Lee, than Fox will likely be up pretty quickly. Otherwise, he'll likely be waiting until September.

Lee is injured but he refuses to go to the DL.

Where in the article does it say anything about Milwaukee wanting to move back to the A.L.?

Sometimes you got to read between the lines.

Literally if you look very closely it's in between lines 13 and 14 in very small font.

It would be great to have Fox coming in to pinch hit instead of Miles/Johnson/Freel. As one poster pointed out Fox/Hoffpauir would look great at DH for interleague games.

What if Gamel just lets a bunch of balls go by him and doesn't get charged for an error? Wouldn't that make him an outstanding fielder?

This post cracks me up. I know the answer though. That would make Gamel and Braun the greatest fielding duo of all time.

What do I win?

Lee is injured but he refuses to go to the DL.

I've seen this theorized a few times, but have never seen confirmation. Lee is hurt, yes, but has there been any effort to DL him and he's refused?

Otherwise I suspect it's just Lou and Lee thinking this will get under control quick enough for him to contribute. I do still think both believe Lee can be the DLee of old - meaning they both believe he'll outproduce Hoff over the course of the year.

We should do this with Jake Fox, perhaps sending down Scales (only because Miles can't) just for the interleague period. This won't happen though.

I'm not sure where the idea that Hoff needs a platoon partner comes from.

At this point, Fox could really use a place to play. I'd like to know just how bad he is at third. Given that he's still in the minors, I'd imagine it's pretty bad.

Of course it would. To suggest otherwise would mean you are blinded by jealousy.

from what i've read, he's bad everywhere and probably can only be passable at 1B, since you don't have to do as much there.

Hoff may not need a platoon partner, but the general desire has been to get Fox to the majors and on the field. The only realistic place for him would be 1st and I doubt we'd bench Hoff for him.
