Don't know if this was reported in Game Threads but I thought that was great when in (maybe) the 7th innning, you could hear Cub fans chanting "WE WANT PE-AVY!" "WE WANT PE-AVY!" That really was funny. I hope that Hendry can pull the trigger on a deal for Peavy this Summer.

The Padres announcers (Mark Grant) said that the Padres have only scored 2 runs in Peavy's last 25 innings pitched. I don't remember what inning that was when they said that, but Jake probably couldn't be any more frustrated.

I wonder what he was thinking when the Cubs were shaking each others hands while "Go Cubs Go" was playing.

Jim Hendry is a moron for not trading for me

Hendry basically did trade for him. Kevin Towers changed his mind at the last minute and decided he didn't want to trade Peavy after all.

I was wondering where he was when they were playing the song. I'm guessing the clubhouse. I wonder if he's still holding out hope that he'll be coming to Chicago later this season.

I keep hearing that Towers killed the deal, but all the news reports I've read have it that Hendry was the one who walked away. From Carrie Muskat's Tuesday recap posted today on MLB.com:

Peavy (2-5) struck out nine over six innings, including Derrek Lee three times. The Cubs had tried to acquire the Cy Young winner this past offseason, but general manager Jim Hendry ended talks in December when he decided the price of personnel and the additional payroll was too high.

If he did it was primarily because of our murky ownership situation - meaning there was nothing he could do about it.
