Man, have we faced the ace of every team we have played this year in a series? I know Stl missed Santana, Haren, and 1 other ace in their series so far, while we have faced Haren, Lincecum, Sanchez, Nolasco, Oswalt, Peavey, Gallardo.

The Blackhawks have me completely distracted from the mediocre start to the Cubs season. I didn't realize there was a Peavy/Harden matchup slated for tonight.

 

 

With Ramirez out for a while, Lee still not looking like he's even the pre-2005 Lee, and very little hope for outside help in the lineup the Cubs are going to have to seriously consider bolstering their pitching staff. If they remain a mediocre lineup, they need to try and turn it into a top 2-3 run prevention squad.

my biggest fear is that Lou is going to (and maybe to some extent, he already has) use this as justification for trying even harder to "make things happen" on the base paths with steals and hit-'n-runs leading to even more unnecessary outs on the bases.

 

BB was falling all over himself the other day about how they need to "make things happen" and "push the right buttons" with Ramirez and Lee out (and Soto/Fontenot struggling).

This looks like a fun matchup. I wonder who'll be more dominant.

 

On one side you've got a pitcher who's consistently awesome (Peavey)

On the other side you've got a pitcher who's the best pitcher in MLB when he's on, but that requires him to be "in the zone" (Harden)

At this point Id rather have Miles in the lineup than Soto. Free Koyie Hill!

 

So I take it Freel isnt to far from the DL either? Hes the obvious choice to hold down 3rd for the time being.
