20 - 4 run since Hummel left?

Hummel gets hurt, and the rest of the team forgets how to play. Moore looks like he's never shot the ball before.

All they can do is shoot 3's. Not getting it to JJ and Moore is doing absolutely nothing.

Notre Dame utterly befuddles me. Last two games, lost to Louisville in 2 OTs in a game where the general consensus is that the refs allowed Samardo Samuels all the leeway in the world leading to us fouling out 4 players. Today, defensively dominate Pittsburgh (three words that have no correlation together in ND basketball) and edge back toward .500 in the league. Both without Harangody. Hope for next year, I guess. Winning out is the only way an NCAA bid would even be possible and that's not going to happen.

Eastern Michigan earns the sulleymon memorial Chuckers Label by shooting 32 of their 59 attempts from beyond the arc tonight, making only 9 of them, and still somehow beating Ball State to make winning the division that much harder. I have about as much antipathy toward EMU at the moment as it's possible to have for a lower-tier MAC team.

Not to be a hater, but 3-point shooting is a pretty huge part of your offense no matter who's on the floor.

Moore isn't hitting anything when he does get an open look. This is painful to watch.

Any word on Hummel? I can't watch the game so I have no idea what is happening. If he is out our season is toast which is by far the worst way for a season to go. I would rather be a bubble team that misses the cut than a team who has title hopes in position for a 1 seed that has a star player get hurt and the season is lost.

The injury itself didn't look too violent, not that I'm a doctor or anything. He's currently sitting on the bench, I'm optimistic he'll be back before the season is over...Hopefully he can be a leader from the bench for now.

Yet another Purdue fan on the board or is this someone just changing their name?

Our season is still pretty shot if he is out for any more than a game or two. If he is out we lose to Michigan State and lose the Big Ten. That costs us a 1 seed. If he is then still out for the Big Ten Tourney our best would be semi-finals which costs us a 2 seed. If he then comes back he would likely be rusty and I wouldn't like our chances past the first round being a 3 or 4 seed.

I do not like what I just read on ESPN about Hummel. They said he hurt his knee driving. He tried to get up but was unable to put any weight on it. Sounds exactly like ACL. When you tear it you don't have too much pain but the leg just has no strength. Its very common to see players try to get up after the injury but find out they can't put any weight on the leg.

You don't know how bad it is yet so quit hitting the panic button. I know how you feel though because the same thing happened to Illinois right before tournament time last year. With that said you still have Johnson and Moore to shoulder the load, which is a heck of a lot better than most teams.

Yet another Purdue fan...it's good to see so many!

They showed Hummel getting up off the bench on crutches...still putting no weight on it, doesn't look pretty.

YESSS! Regardless how bad our play was after Hummel was out, a close win in a hostile environment without him is really encouraging if he is out for any period of time, which it looks like he will be. Just take it one game at a time....

Good, but very costly win.

I would obviously rather have the loss and Hummel healthy. Sure we got Moore and Johnson but depth was never the strength of the team. We have no replacement for Hummel. I would say we could replace Moore but moving Grant to SG and LewJack starting but we have no one to replace Hummel or Johnson. We may be able to get into sweet 16 without him but nothing past that.

I feel even worse after getting home and watching the replay on DVR. From the handful of times I have seen teammates tear an ACL and the dozens of times I have seen it on TV I would say I'm pretty sure that is what it is. He didn't go down right away which normally a twisted or hyper extended knee will make you do. He tried to walk it off, realized he had no strength on the leg and sat down. Ugggh.
