this has been discussed before, but with UI at 9 conference wins, has anyone with 10 ever not gotten into tourny?

safe to say we are all rooting for vandy!

As Andy said Penn St. missed last year with 10 wins. I don't think we stand a chance with 10 wins. Gut instinct is 11 wins is going to require a win in the 4-5 game.

i don't think anyone's ever missed with 11 wins, and i don't think it will start now.

A 10-6 Indiana team missed in '05. They were 15-14 overall though.

I think there have been a couple of Big 12 teams that missed with 10 wins. Maybe Colorado and KSU? Baylor? Dunno.

K-State in 2007 and Colorado in 2004.

Syracuse missed the tournament once with 10 Big East wins and I believe Penn State or someone else missed the tourney last year with 10 Big Ten wins.

Syracuse doesn't ever count when they're on the bubble because they play 14 D2 teams in non-conference every year. I really think they'll get in at 11-7. Whether they beat Minny and Michigan or lose one of those and beat UW I don't think matters.

Also, possibly one of the most homer reffed games I've ever seen today. Absolutely awful.

Technically they were 15-13 at selection time.

But they were the fourth seed. Do. The. Math.

The scout board had a breakdown on shot types, Purdue shot 6 more layup/dunks and went to the line something like 20 more times. Awful.

You guys realize your own coach said in the post game Purdue played good defense WITHOUT fouling.

You do realize you'll get in the tournament and they will call those fouls and you'll get beat out by the elite eight, right?

Can you explain the difference in foul shots based on shot types then?

When's the last time a coach after the game says "those refs blew, Chris Kramer fouls on every possession and is probably a virgin?"

Not only that anyone who knows Weber knows he isn't gonna badmouth Purdue or Painter.

He has no reason to say they did it without fouling. I have never heard a coach add on the fouling part. Most coaches will credit the opposing defense but not go past saying they played well. Many coaches have also questioned the reffing of games (without calling them out), especially in games they get a technical.

I do like your dramatization though. You have a gift with taking things way over the top and making up pointless things to distract everyone from the real topic. Bravo I take my hat off to you :hello:

Oh, cause the smiley face guy is taking his hat off. I get it.

What do you think he was yelling about that got him the technical?

There were 4 or 5 calls in that game that really changed the complexion of the last 5 minutes. The 2 terrible blocking calls on Cole (only 1 was late), the charge call against DJ, the illegal screen against Davis, and probably a couple others I'm forgetting because I was throwing [expletive] at the TV I got so pissed. Those really made a huge difference in momentum and the way the last 5 minutes played out.

If you think differently, you weren't paying attention, I don't care who you root for.

Give me a [expletive] break. You even said it yourself Weber got T'd up why the [expletive] do you think that happened? Im, guessing it wasn't because Weber was applauding the dumb ass officials for their terrific officiating, but thats just a guess.

As a Purdue fan, I'm asking you nicely...please stop.

Illinois is going to make the tournament.

carry on, then.

I know you guys (i.e., Illinois fans) are fatalistic, but look at the resumes of some of the other teams on the bubble. Not a whole lot impressive out there. Obviously Illinois better beat Michigan and Minnesota, though. If they do that then top Wisconsin again, they'll be a lock. They may have crappy, inexplicable losses, but they have wins over Michigan State, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, and Clemson. That's pretty darn good.

Oh, and it's official: Indiana has one of the Big Ten's top-3 out-of-conference wins. And the best neutral/road out-of-conference win of the entire conference. Just sayin'.

How is that better than beating Tennessee on a neutral floor?

Pomeroy says it's us @ Clemson.

That Pitt game still confuses the hell out of me. If IU's conference season worked out a little better, say 6 conference wins, that woulda been a nice game to point to for recruits as a sign of where things are going. But when you have the blowout losses and the possibility of getting swept by Iowa in conference, it's harder to say this is where we're going.

Yeah, I went through Pomeroy and saw the Clemson ranking (Clemson No. 18, Pitt No. 20). But you'd have a hard time convincing me Clemson has had a better year than Pitt; though obviously that's a personal opinion. Bonus points for it being a true road win, though.

Pitt was missing Gilbert Brown and it was Jermaine Dixon's first game back. That helps explain it, at least some.

Edit to respond to your edit: I would agree. Beating Pitt and then winning 5-7 conference games would have been great progress to show recruits. However, losing Maurice Creek was a death blow. He was easily the best player on the team (I don't think I'd get an argument if I said he was a near lock for Big Ten Freshman of the Year). Couple that with losing Matt Roth -- who would've been a big help after Creek got hurt. I'd like to think that with Creek, perhaps IU has two more wins, less blowouts and two more decent/good chances at victories. Now if they get one more win I'd be thrilled.
