Other allegations in Roberts' book, according to the Daily News:

• A-Rod "pitch tipped" when he played for the Rangers by letting opponents at the plate know which pitch was coming in lopsided games. A-Rod expected players he helped would reciprocate when he was having an off night and needed to get his batting average up.

Wow.

at least he tips the 15, unlike some Chicago athletes we could name

Ahh yes the infamous "No Tippin Khabibulin"

Jordan and Pippen were notorious for never tipping. It's ridiculous

Don't get me started on those two (and most of the Bulls). The no tipping and dine-n-dash bullcrud they often pulled was epic and legendary around the Chicago bar/restaurant industry.

Back when I was waiting tables, I waited on Lovie Smith. He was a nice guy, everything was going well. However, Ill never know if he was a good tipper or not because he left with the wrong copy of the credit card receipt.

I also used to wait on Tyson Chandler quite a bit. He was always 20%er.

Pippen maybe, but not Jordan.

I've seen him twice in person. Once on a golf course that I was playing and once at a casino and he tipped everyone who came within ten feet of him and looked like they were working.

The man is amazing on a golf course. He's one of the fastest players I've ever seen.

You know, I'm not a fan of what A-Rod did, and I do think his public image should be tarnished after the steroid use became public, but Christ Almighty, give it a rest, media! I don't care if he's a lousy tipper! I don't care if he once had a library book that was two months overdue! I don't care!

This is simply just piling on and kicking a man when he's down. Nothing more.

Jordan absolutely stiffed people on occassion. Definitely not to the extreme of Pippen, but the stories are out there on Jordan too.

Well damn. I tip 'em better than Arod!
I knew from the first two words of the title of this thread that you'd make an appearance. :D

I like how the joke of understating the fact that there's been accusations of A-Rod juicing since high school and even as a Yankee has caused the majority of this topic to be about his tipping habits.

So... A-Rod juicing since he was in high school? Anyone buy it?

Why not? I'd believe just about anything when it comes to baseball players and steroids at this point especially when talking about a guy who already admitted to using steroids.

I don't think many people really believed him the first time when he said he only used for two or three years or whatever he claimed it was.

Wow.

I find this a little hard to believe.

Also, as far as him using steroids in high school, the allegations I heard on TV last night that are supposedly in this book are ridiculous (assuming I was paying enough attention to recall them correctly). I think she's basically claiming he was a twig in HS, juiced, and all of a sudden completely filled out to a world class athlete (something like 50 or 75lbs +). I guess it could be possible, but I just don't buy it. Plus, his HS coach was on TV last night and completely denied everything and said he gained 30 lbs over the course of 3 years. Granted he may just be covering A-Rod's ass, but I would think if he thought A-Rod was juicing he would have just kept his mouth shut concerning the matter.

I knew guys in high school that roided for football. They weren't even good players, just idiots. So yeah, it's quite possible that he juiced in HS, but as is usually the case in these accusations, the evidence is flimsy to nonexistent.

From 8th grade to my senior year in high school I gained 20 lbs per year of just muscle. And from the end of wrestling season to the beginning of football I gained 30 plus a couple different times. I also remember that every year the only explanation some people had for guys getting bigger/stronger/better at their sport was they must be on steroids. I don't doubt at all that this writer could find people who think ARod did steroids in high school, but from what I've heard there's little to no meaningful evidence.

Jesus Christ, how much did you weigh when you graduated?

Don't know, but I was 217 on the first day of two-a-days for football, 197 before my junior year, 175 before sophomore and 155 before freshman. And there were a couple guys who completely lapped me in the growth department.

MLB is starting an investigation into the allegations Selena Roberts is claiming in her book, but she's not cooperating with officials. So she's putting out a book about how A-Rod is still a juicer, but won't help officials prove her allegation? Sounds like sensationalist hack journalism

i knew a guy in high school who took steroids for football. he was a real idiot, but went from being a scrawny guy to a guy who set a bunch of school records. unfortunately, he was still too dumb to play anywhere in college, which is pretty remarkable.
