They realy need to DL Bradley at this point. Too many guys are banged up and we need another bat. As hot as Jake Fox is, Id rather him in that pinch hitter spot, as thats all Bradley will be for now.

They do need to put him on the DL, but my guess is that he is refusing to go on the DL because of the effect it could have on his contract vesting. I'm not sure who gets to make the final call, but if the Cubs try to put him on the DL and he says he isn't hurt, would it turn into a grievance with the MLBPA?

that would be a PR disaster for bradley, hopefully he and his agent are smart enough to see that. players who aren't healthy enough to play much over a 10-day stretch routinely go on the DL.

According to Lou in the pregame, Bradley is available to PH and play the field tonight. If Bradley feels fine tomorrow, he'll start.

.279 .373 .458 .832

Those are Milton Bradley career numbers in the first half:

278 .364 .450 .814

Those are Milton Bradley career numbers in the second half.

I'm not worried about Bradley. Once he gets going he will be an offensive force. Patience is a key, tho.

An .830 OPS is an offensive force?

In order to obtain an .830 ops this year, what ops would he have to put up the rest of the way?

Depends on how many at-bats he gets this year. If he has 400, my calculations would have him needing an .857 OPS the rest of the year to get to .830 overall. But I'm not very confident about that answer although it should be in the ballpark of what is needed.

All I saying is that when it is said and done people in October Bradley will have reach his career numbers or surpass them, and the April struggles will be long forgotten.

I know but I'm saying that if he ends up with his career numbers, that would be quite a disappointment. 100 something games of an .825 OPS isn't worth what he's getting.

The we shouldnt have signed him to begin with. When you sign a verteran player you should expect his career numbers. If you get something more, then great. If Hendry wanted a mega slugger, he should have gone after Dunn. Yeah, he strikes out a lot, but he also walks a lot, and has been known to knock the snot out of the ball every now and again, especially at Wrigley.

On the Dan Patrick Show yesterday Nolan Ryan compared Bradley to Dick Allen.

Ridiculous. Dick Allen should be in the Hall of Fame.

FWIW, let's compare two players.

Player A is a third baseman

.277/.362/.464 with 342 career home runs

Career OPS+ of 125, with his five best seasons at 164, 161, 153, 146, 139

Career EqA - .297, WARP3 - 72.7

Finished in the top 5 in MVP voting 2 times, but never higher than 4th

324 career win shares

Player B was a third baseman, first baseman, and outfielder

.292/.378/.534 with 351 career home runs

Career OPS+ of 156, with his five best seasons at 199, 181, 175, 174, 165

Career EqA - .332, WARP3 - 70.0

Finished in the top 5 in MVP voting 2 times, winning it in 1972.

342 career win shares

Player A is Ron Sano, who many contend sits with Bert Blyleven as the worst current omission from the Hall of Fame.

Player B is Dick Allen, who was probably a better player than Ron Santo. BTW, he's also not in the Hall of Fame.

For you trivia buffs..... The White Sox made Dick Allen (aka Richie Allen) the highest paid player in all of baseball back in 1972, paying him the ungodly salary of $200,000.00 !!!!
