You saw it right and I say good for him. I love the Cubs but of any fanbase of professional sports, Cub fans are the most repulsingly annoying and ignorant of them all. Embarrassing.

Talk about hypocrites and that's basically what Bradley's gesture was about. He was booed mercifully in his previous at bat and then all of a sudden the minions want a curtain call? Priceless.

In Philly, they boo mercilessly, so that's one place that's worse than Chicago.

Boston and New York do the same thing. Pretty much any big market fan base that cares (so that elminates the LA Dodgers).

If there's one group of fans I don't want to emulate, it's Boston...Boston and New York.

If there's two groups of fans I don't want to emulate, it's Boston, New York, and Dodger fans.

Three. If there's three groups of fans I don't want to emulate, it's Boston, New York, Dodgers, and Philly...

Four. If there's...among the groups of fans I don't want to emulate are Boston, New York, Philly, Dodgers, St. Louis...

"I didn't come here to suck. I know I've sucked so far, but give me some love, you know what I'm saying? I am a Cub."

I like Milton Bradley.

definitely my fave position player now, since rammy went down.

Seriously, I love that guy. Not only does he have my last name and the number of my favorite cub (therefore making it OK to have a jersey with my name on it - and with my favorite cub number) but he's animated, he's really good at baseball, and he doesn't B.S. about things.

Milton rocks.

Oh, and I have many many many incidents in support of the fact that Cubs fans, do in large part, really suck.

Cubs fans are not anywhere close to Mets fans when it comes to hating your team. Both Boston and the Yankees are much worse, because not only do they bitch about every little misstep, but they do it despite the memory of recent World Series titles which should shut up any complainers for a long time.

Anyone hear any word on how far that went? That was one of the harder hit balls in recent memory

I believe Bruce Miles wrote 440 feet in his column.

Seemed farther, but I also think Chicago has a hard time judging distance. I seem to remember them upsetting Hill after the rooftop shot with an absurdly low number.

True. I have a feeling though that if we won the WS this year that next year if we lose the first three games people would be right back to bitching.

Yeah they called that like barely over 500 originally.

EDIT: Actually, I just checked and they originally called it at 490 feet, lol.

EDIT2: Also, just found THIS site that says the ball was actually only 451.2 feet. That is, it landed that distance from home plate. I wish that Hit Tracker had data going back that far to show its "True" distance.

I remember him saying something to the effect of "BS, it was 700 easy"

That he did.

Also, just checked hit tracker and according to them Miltons HR last night had a "True distance" (That is, if there was no obstruction to stop it, it would have gone) 450 feet.

EDIT again: Also, last nights Milton HR was one of the faster "speed off the bat"'s recorded all year. It was going 111.8 MPH when it left his bat (fastest this year was Pujols at 119.7)

And just to pad my post count a little bit more, Hit Tracker actually DOES have data for Hill's HR. They say that, unobstructed, it would have flown an even 500 feet.

And since I brought it up in regards to Miltons HR, the speed off bat for that bomb was 116.7MPH

Talk about hypocrites and that's basically what Bradley's gesture was about. He was booed mercifully in his previous at bat and then all of a sudden the minions want a curtain call? Priceless. Like when Lee begrudgingly took a curtain call last week when he hit his GS, he didn't really want to do it because he's been booed all year. These players are human after all and if anyone thinks booing a player is going to make them better or give them any kind of incentive to get better, you're a moron.

I never thought it'd be possible, but Cub fans reputation is getting worse and worse every year. I also don't find it hard to believe why some people think a good amount of Cub fans are racist.

Just because they bood you boy Shark, there is no need to be that upset about it.

I actually don't mind the players hating on the fans. My theory is that if the players turn on the fans, they will band together and want to win for themselves, not the other 10 million Cubs fans living and dying for a championship. It would be a lot easier to win in the playoffs without the weight of Cubs nation riding on you.

"I didn't come here to suck. I know I've sucked so far, but give me some love, you know what I'm saying? I am a Cub."

I like Milton Bradley.

Just to add a couple more quotes from Bradley.

"Do you want a bunch of duds walking around with their shoulders slumped and having no emotions, no feelings?" Bradley said. "I don't think the fans want that. I think they want a guy who's going to get into the game and feel a little bit. I've always said, 'I don't really play baseball, I feel it.'

"That's all I want to do," Bradley said. "You just want to contribute to the cause. These guys welcomed me with open arms and every day keep supporting me. It's nice to get the fan support tonight and hear the cheers and do something to help the team.

"I need the support. Part of the reason I came here is because they have great fans and they're going to be into the game. I like that life."

Bradley shows a lot of life, too.

"I've always said, I don't play baseball, I feel it," he said. "I try to grasp the moment. I never get too happy about anything I do because I expect to do well. When Scales goes deep like that, I get a smile on my face."

That last quote right there about Scales home run is 1 of the reasons all his ex teammates have nothing but praise for him. The guy is like Z. He wants to win, and he wants to win badly. I love his quote about knowing hes sucked. It was obvious he was putting a tremendous amount of pressure on himself to do something. Hopefully a couple games like last night with the crowd on his side, will get him relaxed, and ready to pick the team up in Ramirezs absence.

That's so BS. If they are trying to go by the book and making any contact with the ump a suspendable offense, fine whatever. But the contact was so minor and incidental that the MLB had to know he should not be punished in the least. They should have announced the suspension before today's game, when they knew Lou would have had him sit anyways and then get over it. Instead they wait until the 7th inning of the game he's already sitting in to announce it, basically making it a 2 game suspension. That's the stupidest timing ever.

If they announced the suspension before today's game he could have sat today and played tomorrow. But now he sits 2 games in a row.

Oh well.

yup. f*** the police.

You should be able to retroactively serve a suspension. I like how MLB took forever making their decision but just happened to come out with it DIRECTLY AFTER he sat out a game. Was Bob Watson looking at the video over and over again trying to find the slightest evidence of a bill-to-bill bump? I know I'm ranting now, but it's insane that he argues for such a short amount of time and leaves but he gets suspended. They should also take into account the horrible call and the situation. I almost always hate Watson's decisions.

Bradley's saying he "never gets treated fairly." Doesn't feel vindicated.

I see him take a lot of low-and-away pitches called for strikes. I think the ump is good for one BAD call (not borderline) on him every game.

Posted
Bradley's speaking quite frankly about the umpire and the call. Said he has never appealed a suspension because he knew he was wrong, but now he knows he didn't do anything wrong. Said he never swore--just told him the ball was low and in.
