Ramirez for #3 hitter.

Lee missed a hanger during that ab that should have met pavement on waveland.

Crap. If Lee and Sori lay off pitches 18 inches off the plate that inning, it's 5-0 with 1 out and Ramirez batting.

But they can't. It's a weakness of this lineup, it reared its ugly head in the playoffs last year, and it continues in '09.

In all honesty, fair's fair after Pujols got called on his borderline check swing.

did you see the replay on the pujols swing? he clearly went around. Not close

Yeah, but Pujols clearly went past the plate though from the overhead replay.

Not that D Lee didn't go either, it seemed like he did.

BB / PA for Soriano

2001 - 4.7%

2002 - 3.1%

2003 - 5.2%

2004 - 5.0%

2005 - 4.8%

2006 - 9.2%

2007 - 5.0%

2008 - 8.6%

2009 - 12.8%

He hasn't looked good this game, but Soriano has been showing much improved discipline so far this year.

I'm starting to think we are better off when the bases aren't loaded...

When the bases are loaded, everyone is anxious to get the big hit, and the patience dissolves.

Although that was a very good AB from Lee.

On the replay, I'm inclined to agree with Brenly that Lee's check swing was a swing.

Like I said in yesterday's game thread:

Opposing managers should intentionally walk the bases loaded to start every inning. The Cubs would be lucky to finish .500 on the season.

5 bases loaded walks in 23 PAs, including the two last inning.

I think most of our RBIs with the bases loaded this year have come via walk.

They would most likely go 162-0.
