I don't remember hearing this. But I guess I was too young to remember. His vocal chords were almost damaged.

 

I'm a big fan of his singing by the way. Nothing outrageous. He doesn't draw attention to himself like so many do. Great voice.

I think his version gets increasingly cartoonish with each season. It was pretty ridiculous Opening Day, like someone pretending to sing with a bombastic opera voice when they can't. His "BRRRRRAA-AY-AY-AY-AY-AY-AAVE" is almost "CAAAAAAPTAIN CAA-AY-AY-AY-AY-AVEMAN" at this point.
