Wow the Rockies lineup kinda regressed from last year...

Helton, especially, isn't the hitter he once was.

Now watch. Because I said that, he'll go 4-5 with 2 homers and 6 rbi today.

That's an ugly lineup we're trotting out there today. I really wish our bench was better.

Thanks, Jim

Yes because the bench was so much better in this situation last year? If this happen last year we would have had DeRosa at 3rd, Fontenot at 2b, Reed in CF and Fukudome in RF. With say Edmonds and Ramirez out of the line-up. With the bench being Cedeno and Ward. Today Miles at 2b, Fontenot at 3rd, Johnson in CF and Fukudome in RF. With the bench being Gathright and Hoffpauir. The difference is a back up infielder instead of a back up outfielder. Sure Miles in the everyday line-up over Fontenot is weaker, but Hoffpauir on the bench over Ward or Cedeno is actually stronger. So if there is a difference today it's that we have a back up poor hitting outfielder then poor hitting back up infielder.

He is always good for one homer at wrigley

I don't mind the lineup. 4 of the top 5 hitters are red hot right now. The conditions and strong winds today favor hitters who keep the ball on the ground or hit line drives. The main loss of losing Bradley, Ramirez, and Soto is power and power isn't going to do a whole lot of good out there today. The lineup is still worse than the regular lineup of course, but it's not nearly as bad of one as if the Cubs trotted out the same lineup in the middle of July when balls are jumping out of the park.

It's one of those line-ups that we really need a productive Derrek Lee in. So hopefuly he can start to get hot today. Because even with Fukudome, Soriano, Fontenot and Theriot hitting well we still will need a productive Lee.

It's hard to get hot on an extremely cold day.

i agree. because the bench was so bad last year i'm willing to give hendry a pass on building such a bad bench this year. in fact, i'll go so far as to say good job, hendry.
