NHL.com lists the Blackhawks game being on versus, at least for the first hour. This might end up really sucking for me. The non-versus games have been available on CSN via center ice. But if it's on versus, that feed is blacked out. If they just show the first hour of this game until the previously scheduled ANA/SJ 10:30 eastern game, I will be pissed.

It was the same way on Saturday night. The directv (which I think you've said you have) guide showed Versus having the Hawks game for an hour, then the Ducks-Sharks game. Is that not what they ended up showing? Either way, I got the whole game on CSN.

Last night after the Canes game, the guys on versus said that they would show the entire hawks game, then pickup SJ/ANA.

Yah, Saturday sucked. Only got to see the first hour on versus, the rest of the game was blacked out.

Yeah, I think this will go the same way as Saturday and CSN won't be blacked out.

TSN is confirming Phaneuf is out for tonight. Nice.

Call me a pessimist, but I don't see how the Hawks win this game. Maybe with an insane night from Khabibulin.

Is it that they are in this position for the first time, trying to close out a very experienced team? Cuz I can see that. Otherwise, everything leans the Hawks' way in this one.

No, I'm not big on believing experience matters. It's ice, there's a puck, and you skate around trying to put it in the net. These guys have been doing it for two decades each, they all have plenty of experience.

It's just the way Calgary has played in their home games in this series. They aren't the same team as when we play them in Chicago.

They also weren't the same team that played in game 1 and 2. Something happened Saturday that may be like the complete unraveling of a team that knows the opposition is better, the only way they can win is to bully, and that bullying isn't working all that well. They've got the history of first round flameouts, a bunch of injuries, and a questionable goaltender situation.

I don't think there was that much difference in their play in the first four games. Games 1 and 2 were very competitive and Calgary probably should have taken Game 1.

And I'll also disagree about the experience. The pressure makes a difference in how the guys play. The small plays that make all the difference will be made by the guys who don't freak out because they've been there before. I worry about Yarmalsson and Walker, even though both were outstanding in Game 5.

That said, I continue to believe the Hawks are the vastly more talented team and that will carry them through, either tonight or Wednesday. But let's just get it done tonight, eh?

The experience argument has been done to death on the internet, but I still have trouble believing there is more pressure in the NHL playoffs than there is in the minors and college, knowing that scouts and execs are watching and your performance will determine whether you make hundreds of thousands playing at the highest level or you flame and out go work construction for the rest of your life.

I think if the Hawks can just focus on what they do better than their opponent (skating, finesse), and not get caught up in the bullying/physical play, they should win tonight.

I remain convinced the Hawks can beat any team outside of Detroit in a 7-game series.

Given the extremely noticable to the untrained eye difference between early season NHL hockey and playoff hockey, I have to disagree with you here. Hockey is an emotional/adrenaline fueled sport. The pressure is real. What I think is overblown is the notion that younger players will always be more susceptible to failing under that pressure.

2002 - None (Blackhawks lost to St. Louis)

2003 - Cubs beat Atlanta (Cubs lost to Florida)

2004 - None (No Chicago playoff teams)

2005 - White Sox beat Boston, White Sox beat Los Angeles, White Sox beat Houston (Bulls lost to Washington, Bears lost to Carolina)

Wow... Today was SWAMPED at work... I just looked at the clock and realized it was almost 6:45, I thought it was like 4:00. Oh well, guess by the time I get home it will only be an hour to game time!

Haven't had a chance to read all the posts in this thread yet... guess I will when I get home.
