What might have been

Watching the Cubs get beat by the Halos on the MLB Network and noticing Mike Scosia's (spelling?) agressive style of managing, I can't help but wonder what might have been if Dusty would have signed with the Angels as their manager, instead of the Cubs. I'm quite sure if Baker had gone to Anaheim, Hendry would have signed Scosia. Just think, we probably would have won the pennant in 2003, and maybe in 2007 and 2008 as well. Who knows? Your input please.

You can play the what all day long. We could have hired a handful of managers other than Dusty that might have gotten us over the top. Although I doubt in 2003. As much as a I hate Dusty we did win 21 more games in 2003 than in 2002. I'm not sure we would have been any better with anyone else. Every year after that would we have been better with someone other than Dusty? Sure but in 2003 he did his job.

In 2003 they might have won less games, missed the playoffs, but kept Woody and Prior's arms attached to their bodies for a few more years.

Wood yes, Prior no. Prior had some freak injuries not caused by overuse.

And some not so freak injuries clearly related to the absolutely insane abuse.

Wait, because Mike Scoscia is an aggressive dumbass we'd be go further in the playoffs? I'm pretty sure the last two years we couldn't pitch nor hit, so that's not happening. The previous two years before that we had a club that had a guy he'd run a lot with (Pierre) and we sucked. Hard. And I'm pretty sure that in 2003 we five outs away before our PITCHING blew the lead.

Really, this is stupid.
