Of course there's no audio for today's game. Garrett Olson, who was a Cub for a portion of the past offseason, will start for the Mariners.

Mr. Harden: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 0 HR, 2 GO-3 FO. I don't know how long he's slated to pitch.

It's scoreless in the top of the third. Ryan Theriot has the only Cubs hit.

That's Harden's final line. Hope to hear good news after the game and also tomorrow.

Dempster now in. He threw a scoreless 3rd but had to work around 2 hits.

I was hoping to see a pitch count, but it's not in the box score. He faced 8 batters. I guess we'll have to wait for an article from Carrie for a pitch count.

Cubs explode for 5 in the 4th off Olson and Miguel Batista. I believe Fontenot and Deeds had RBI doubles, So Taguchi had a 2-RBI single and Theriot had a sac fly.

Dempster: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 3 GO-2 FO.

I know its just spring training, but its nice to see the goose-eggs in the BB column.

I would guess he was somewhere between 20-35 just looking at the line. I doubt he went/was allowed to go over 40 his first time out.

Rotoworld had this on the appearance:

Rich Harden (shoulder) made his first spring start Tuesday, allowing two hits over two innings.

"My command was a little off, but I was throwing strikes, I felt great, I felt strong," Harden said. "I couldn't ask for more." The Cubs have been cautious with Harden, but he's expected to make five more starts this spring.

Cubs are up 8-1 in the bottom of the 8th now. Heilman has struck out 4 and allowed 1 run in 2 innings of work.

He's really the only guy giving Marshall any sort of competition for the #5 spot. Should be interesting to see how both start doing when they get to go 5-6 innings.

Heilman adds another strikeout and no hits in his 3rd inning. Marshall is almost certainly going to win the job because he hasn't done anything to lose it. But that has been quite a competition so far:

Marshall: 9 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K

Heilman: 8 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 12 K

Another scoreless inning from Ascaino (0 H 0 R 0 BB 1 K). He's looked pretty good this spring.

What will Heilman's role on this team be? Is he the replacement for Howry?

Maybe in the bullpen, but hopefully not in the word filter!!!

Demp, Heilman and Ascanio looked great today. Harden relied heavily on the offspeed stuff, and seemed to be working around 92.
