Good pickup for the Nats. I'm sure they are going to get a bargain for his level of production.

I kind of feel sorry for Dunn, but then again he's a multi-millionaire playing a game I would for free.

I'd be perfectly happy paying someone to let me play.

MLB radio was always saying that Dunn had a multi-year offer waiting for the Nats, but Dunn was holding out for a contract from a better team.

but seriously, another deal with the Nats coming? How do they fit Dunn, Langerhans, Milledge, Kearns, Pena and Dukes into that OF?

Maybe they talked Dunn into playing first. Can the cut Johnson and / Young?

if there was ever a team that needed 3 or 4 DH slots in their lineup...

Isn't Nick Johnson their first baseman? They may be thinking of starting three of them in the OF, putting one at first for when Johnson's hurt and keeping the other two as the fourth and fifth outfielders.

Otherwise, a trade would have to be coming, I would think.

I wonder if the Nats could be convinced to trade Johnson for a small price? He would make a nice back-up 1b/ bat off the bench.

$5.5 million seems steep for a backup who can only really play 1B

Let alone one with a terrible injury history. It's a shame he's so brittle, Johnson is a great player when healthy

There was some rumor of the As wanting to acquire Johnson earlier in the offseason. Don't know if that's changed since they signed Giambi.

As far as Dunn goes, good pickup by the Nats if they paid less than the 2/$16 that Burrell got.
