Keith Bulluck is trying to convince Torry Holt to sign with the Titans.

"I think Torry Holt still is one of the best in the game," Bulluck told hosts Adam Schein and Solomon Wilcots. "So if we got Torry Holt, oh yeah, it would be problems for other defenses. So if Torry Holt is listening, he needs to holla at me."

I wasn't real high on the idea at first, but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Holt. Sign him to a 1-2 year deal around 6-7 million base with incentives - I think that'd be a decent deal.

I dont think that Holt will sign with the titans, after turning down a trade to them already this offseason. He could always change his mind but I doubt it.

A lot depends on what kind of offers he gets. He turned down the trade because he didn't like the way the Titans wanted to restructure his contract. If they are now offering him more than anybody else will give and he overrated the market for himself before he was released, I could see him signing with the Titans.

A strangely great deal pulled off by Al Davis, it appears:

The Miami Dolphins have traded one-time starting center Samson Satele to the Oakland Raiders for a draft choice. Miami will receive a sixth-round pick from Oakland and the two sides will swap selections in an undisclosed round, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Bill Williamson.

Something tells me Davis didn't beat Parcells. If this guy is a former starter on a team like the Dolphins, which went through interior lineman on a weekly basis, he's probably just not good.

My understanding is he got injured midway through the year and missed the remainder of the year. The former part may mean that Jake Grove was definitely unseating him, but to my knowledge he was never outplayed for the job.

Parcells may know what he's doing here (he deserves the benefit of the doubt), but this seems way too low of a price for a guy who's very talented but a little weak.

He didn't miss any time this season. That was...pretty much every guard on the team. I'm a little alarmed at how little they got for him, even if they didn't see a future with hem. He was quite good in '07.

Ah, sorry. I thought Satele was one of the injuries.

Any idea why they didn't like him?

The Patriots are trying to woo Jason Taylor to New England, but he's holding out looking for an offer from Miami.

In regard to the possibility of returning to the Dolphins, the club he spent 11 remarkable seasons with, Taylor said "Absolutely. There's no reason I wouldn't." But he also noted "I'm the wrong person to talk to about that. I sign one line on the contract, and the other guy signs the other line."

The man who would sign the other line in New England already has suggested he's ready to put pen to paper.

Kraft, speaking Tuesday at the NFL owners' meeting in Dana Point, Calif., was asked about the possibility of signing Taylor.

"Great player," Kraft told Yahoo! Sports. "I'm sure that can happen if he wants it."

Jeff George wants back into the league.

“I’ve been trying to figure out how to get back in, and it just amazes me that I’m not on somebody’s roster,” George said. “I’ve been throwing two or three times a week, and every time I go out there to throw, I can’t believe I’m not a backup somewhere. I know it’s a young man’s game, but you can’t tell me I’m not better than some of the quarterbacks that are out there. I look at teams like Minnesota or Chicago, and I want to scream at the people in charge, ‘What are you thinking?’ ”

Similarly, though George yearns for a spot on the Cowboys’ roster – “If Tony Romo goes down,” he said, “who’s better out there to run the Dallas offense than somebody like me – someone who knows how to throw to veteran receivers and get the ball downfield and keep them happy?” – it’s clear that his love is destined to be unrequited.

George hasn't seen significant playing time since 2001 and hasn't been in the league since 2006. He's 41 years old.

Al Davis is drooling right now.

Of course, that could just be because he's pretty old.

Jeff George would be the perfect downfield passer to teach JaMarcus Russell the ropes, eh? :-))

Chris Mortenson (and a couple other non-ESPN sources) is reporting the Lions were highly impressed by Matthew Stafford and he is currently their top choice for the #1 pick.

According to Mortensen, some of the Lions' contingent grilled him in the classroom on Monday before taking to the field Tuesday. He threw between 40 and 50 passes and performed "much better" than he did in March 19 pro day workout.

QB is such the wrong position for the Lions to be looking at, unless there is a QB out there that is once in a generation good (which Stafford isn't) you don't take him. The lions need so much and taking QB #1 overall is just going to keep them set back. You build teams from the lines out and the lions need both o-line and d-line help and help at just about every other position except RB/WR.

In other news apparently the Broncos are going to trade Cutler, I think he ends up with the Jets in a 3-way.

Here's the thing though. Let's assume the Lions draft Stafford number one overall. They also have the 20th pick, which they can use if an Eben Britton or Michael Oher falls to them. If an O-lineman isn't there, they might have a shot at a Robert Ayers, Peria Jerry, Ziggy Hood or Ron Brace.

Then, with the first pick in the second round, they're right in the area that a guard like Duke Robinson or a tackle like Phil Loadholt makes sense. If they took an offensive tackle with the 20th pick, then someone like Hood or Brace may well be there at the top of the second round.

Now, if they pass on Stafford, they could get a moderately better tackle with the first pick, but where is the QB coming from? After Sanchez, Stafford and Freeman there's not much until the third round or so (Bomar, Cantwell, etc).

I think they have enough early picks - and the both lines are deep enough in this draft - that a QB makes sense with the first pick if they're extremely comfortable with him.

According to NFL draft bible, three players that are scheduled to go in the first round of the draft tested positive for marijuana at the combine.

Giants have cut Plaxico.

Link.

he New York Giants released Super Bowl hero Plaxico Burress on Friday, a little more than four months after the talented but troubled wide receiver accidentally shot himself in the thigh in a New York City nightclub.

Burress' four-year tenure with the Giants was highlighted by a game-winning touchdown catch in the Super Bowl against the previously undefeated New England Patriots in February 2008, but it was also dogged by fines and suspensions.

The delay in ending the court case this week also appeared to play a role in the Giants' decision.

"I am an optimist, and I believe most situations can be worked out," general manager Jerry Reese said in announcing the decision. "We hung in there as long as we could in hopes that there could be a resolution to this situation other than the decision we made today to release Plaxico.

Not big news, but the Rams signed Kyle Boller to be that backup today. He is not very good, but it is better then running Gus Ferrotte out there as the backup.

The Titans also signed Patrick Ramsey to a one-year contract. He's an upgrade over Chris Simms, but I'd still prefer to see Vince get some snaps over him.

The veteran QB market is beginning to thin a bit.

Packers met with Jason Taylor today. I know he was injured/bad last year, but he had one of his best years as the OLB/DE in Capers' system a couple of years ago. That alone makes him worth a risk.

Please do something to improve this defense already.

That'd be a nice move. I think Taylor still has some good football left.

B.J. Raji apparently did not test positive for marijuana before the combine.

His reputation appears to be on the mend after reports surfaced last week on SI.com and NFLDraftbible.com that he tested positive for drugs at the combine in February. Raji told me this evening the reports are inaccurate. His agents provided evidence in a statement earlier today and declared the "reports are untrue."

Same web site that said Cushing and Matthews tested positive for steroids which apparently was false screwed the Raji report up.

Yea, so far the only guys who supposedly tested positive who haven't been cleared yet are Harvin and Jose Martinez.

Wonder if they actually did anything.
