Steven Threet has decided to transfer from Michigan which means Michigan now has 2 freshman QB's and a couple of walk-ons as options for next season. Yikes.

I don't think thats much worse than Threet.

Was Threet the one that came from Georgia Tech? What about Sheridan, he wasnt a senior was he?

Unless Forcier can run the offense very well from the start, Threet would have been better. At least he has a full year and several games with the playbook as opposed to 6 months and no college experience. And didn't McGuffie leave too?

Sheridan is a horrible, horrible QB. I'll be shocked if Forcier isn't starting from Day 1. I'm surprised Threet, since he's already transferred once. Maybe Rodriguez told him he's already #2 or 3 on the chart.

One of the longterm recruiting sagas has come to an end. Running back David Oku has apparently signed with Tennessee.

The daily saga over the recruitment of running back David Oku finally came to an end on Thursday night when the talented tailback signed a letter of intent with his original choice, the University of Tennessee.

Even with the issues he seems to be having/had, I like this. Oku's very talented.

Gotta love Bama, I guess.

According to Ben Harmon, the chairman of the SGA's Elections Board, (Julio) Jones accepted the position of Student Government Association senator recently.

That doesn't surprise me. Julio is the complete package, he is everything a coach wants in a player.

Is Kiffin trying to see how many recruiting violations and near-violations he can rack up before coaching a game?

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/sec/0-5-172/A-peek-into-recruiting-with-South-Carolina-s-Jeffrey.html

I don't know how that's a violation of any type. Far worse has been said and not punished in the past. Kiffin also, for what it's worth, came out and denied every saying that to Jeffrey.

"I never said that to Alshon, nor would I say anything like that," Kiffin said, ESPN reported. "That's just not something I would say."

at least kiffin's a colorful guy like meyer, saban, spurrier and miles. unfortunately for him they have a combined five national titles and he has a combined five wins as a head coach at any level.

Bryce Brown is in Knoxville this weekend for another unofficial, and this time has family and his handler with him. From all I am hearing, Brown will sign with UT on Monday, a major coup for a staff that still hasn't been together for 3 months yet.

With Belotti stepping down at Oregon today, everything seems to have lined up for Brown to wear the Orange next year.

Wow, didn't realize Belotti resigned already. Figured he'd be around for a couple more seasons before Chip Kelly took over.

Hey Hosak;

How confident are you that Lane Kiffin can keep Brown motivated about playing for Tennessee? This is a younh man who would routinely "shut it down" while in HS after he reached his numbers. This a young man who would not stretch with his teammates and the only guy allowed around him is his handler. This is a young man who Miami refused to keep a scholly on the table for. MIAMI of all teams took their name out of the hat for Bryce Brown even after already landing his brother last yr.

I mean Bryce Brown is a helluva talent, no question about it. If Kiffin and the coaching staff gets him to buy into playing for Tennessee instead of playing for himself, this is a major coup of Brown. But that is the major question, isn't it?

IF you think Miami wouldn't reissue his LOI if Brown wanted to sign there, you are being naive.

That isn't to say that Brown isn't a bit of a primadonna, because he is. However, some of what's being reported about him ("the only guy allowed around him is his handler", for example) is being overstated. I have a source who is somewhat close to Brown, and he'd tell you that the whole relationship with Butler is exaggerated and that Butler speaks out of turn often enough. Brown is not the head case that his relationship with Butler might suggest, though he is a head case, to be sure.

And, honestly, I'm not all that concerned with Brown trying to big time anyone once he arrives on campus. One, this isn't Kansas high school football, and if he tries that crap at UT (or Oregon, Miami, or LSU for that matter) someone like Eric Berry will knock his face off in practice, and that "I'm bigger than the team" crap will stop immediately. Two, regardless of how talented he is, this is the SEC, and without teammates pulling their weight and doing their jobs for him, he won't win any rushing titles and won't be a lock for the NFL. FInally, this is his shot at the League. You don't get your shot at the NFL in high school, so you can be a douche to your teammates and coach. Try that mess in college, and he'll be tearing movie tickets in Wichita the rest of his life.

Oku and Brown in the same backfield certainly has potential to be a soap opera. And it also has potential to be a Moreno/King type of backfield. I'm willing to wait and see. It HAS to be better than what I've endured the last 12 months.

I bet if this kid was visiting CNS he wouldn't be such a quitter.

Wow, I didn't realize the Big 10 was being defamed in this conversation.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Bammer more than anyone, and RedFlash is clearly not my favorite dude on here, but you seem to only show up when someone needs to cry about Big T1E1N bashing. I just didn't realize that this was one of those situations.

Bryce Brown is a VOL.

Hopefully his issues have been overblown. He's an awesome talent.

Yes he is. But anytime a player already has an agent, I mean handler, that can't be good. But if Lane Kiffin can get Bryce to sign on to playing for Tennessee and not Bryce Brown, and if Tennessee can break the cord between Bryce and his handler, then Tennessee got the 2nd best RB in the clas of 2009 (jab, jab).

But from my knowledge Bryce is a good kid, it is his handler that is sleazy. Keep Brian Butler out of the clubhouse and off the field (practice or game day) and Tennessee got themselves a helluva RB.

And just for kicks, hey Hosak (I take great pride in knowing I am not your favorite dude on this site):

I've heard Butler's had less influence over Brown as the recruiting process has gone on. Apparently, his parents have taken more control of the process of late.

If that is the case, then great news for Tennessee fans.
