Butler also mentioned a CFL team paying $5 million per year for three years.

The only problem? The CFL has a salary cap of $4.2 million per team. Per year.

Is this guy really worth the trouble? He better be incredibly awesome.

The street agent is a pain, but Brown sounds like a Vol. Tonight, on an amateur call in show (VSPN), Brown said he could really see himself at UT, and that he would visit there next weekend (same weekend that 2010 QB TOdd Heaps is visiting). He will visit USC after, but sounded very positive for Tennessee.

Brown would bump UT into about the 11th spot on Rivals Top 25 Team Rankings.

I just pray he's worth all the crap I'm sure he'll bring with him.

And Heaps (isn't it Jake?) is intriguing, but is he going to take a Mormon mission? If so, I think I'd completely lose interest in him.

Yes, it is Jake (sorry... late, late night for me!). I haven't heard about the Mormon mission- not even the first mention of it.

Heaps and Simms appear to be early targets. You can bet that Kiffin and Co will try to get into the door with the top QB's in 2010.

Apparently Manti Te'o's teammate, WR Roby Toma, is going to renege on his verbal to UCLA and sign with Notre Dame, according to WNDU-TV South Bend. The story said he's unhappy that Neuheisel didn't try harder to land Te'o, whetever that means.

As expected both of those young men are going to be hotly contested for. But another couple of kids Tennessee should at and prolly will offer will be Terrance Broadway of LSU country and should be a 5 star QB and a top 10-15 player next yr. Another is Justin Maclin from Tenn. Now I don't expect to land Mac;in but I expect CNS to fight for him.

He was going to go where Manti Te'o went if he had the opportunity (they've been best friends since elementary school) and Notre Dame offered 3 weeks ago so that took care of that.

Neuheisel not trying hard enough to land Te'o indeed.

I haven't heard of either, but Kiffin absolutely will not for any reason recruit a mobile QB. He turned away a fully committed Tajh Boyd because he was mobile, so I don't think talent means much to him.

If both of those guys are pro-style guys, I'd say he'll be in on them.

The first time I heard anything about the mission was yesterday on the radio. Brent Hubbs mentioned that Heaps may go on one, but it wasn't a certainty yet.

Hubbs also mentioned we should watch for Phillip Simms. Though Heaps is the primary target right now.

Alot to respond to....

Justin Maclin is not a QB, but will be a Top 5 player in TN in 2010. High on TN's radar. LB, iianm.

Boyd was not just a mobile QB, but one who needs ACL reconstruction. That played into the decision, I think.

Heaps will likely take the Mormon mission, making him a priority, but not the top priority. I think it goes: Sims, Montana, Heaps, Blake Bell. (FTR, Rivals is saying early that the 2010 QB class is not very good. Not a Matt Barkley among them. The top QB's will be HOTLY contested in 2010, and UT's depth chart should be extremely attractive.) If Heaps signs, expect UT to push for another Top 10 QB.

Alabama got a commitment from a Memphis kid today. Name escapes me, but should be a Top 20 TN kid in 2010.

I didn't know that about Boyd. It definitely puts a new light on things if he had ACL reconstruction.

I'm not sure I'd be interested at all in Heaps if he's going to take the mission. Too many shades of JT Mapu for me.

And how awesome are those top two names. Who can't get behind QBs named Sims and Montana. :D

And it's very disappointing that the year Kiffin targeted to get us a QB is a year where there's not really a great QB available. I'd be more pissed about dropping Boyd now, but his injury does worry me.

Yeah, Jake Heaps has indicated he'd like to do his mission when he turns 19 (similar to 09ers Xavier Su'a-Filo and Manti Te'o).

Is it odd to anyone else that a Mormon kid picked a Catholic school for college? I'm sure it's not the first time, but it seems a bit odd to me.

Not many Domers leave for a Mormon mission, ya know.

at least kiffin is a colorful guy. every week or so it seems like he does something wrong or stupid. the sec needs more colorful guys with saban, meyer, richt, spurrier and miles. it only remains to be seen if kiffin can coach like saban, meyer, richt, spurrier and miles who have a combined 5 national titles and 15 SEC titles or something ridiculous. im betting on no.

Louisiana Tech ended up with the 2nd best class in Louisiana behind LSU, and the 2nd best class in the WAC behind Boise. 9 *** guys and 16 **. Stars don't really mean anything until you see them on the field though.

winning two and losing two is in no way an outcoaching, but OSU definitely outplayed OU twice.

Nothing you posted proves he's a good coach, which he's not, which you know, which you won't admit because of your undying allegiance for all things sec
