an all-Pennsylvania Super Bowl would be a pretty good game

the riots here would be tremendous.

eh, not so much in State College. I'd say SC is mostly Steelers fans

most of the people who are permanent residents here are steelers fans. there's a large number of students who are eagles fans, however. there was a significant celebration in beaver canyon after the phillies won the world series.

i saw the interview where brian dawkins cried after the game. he's been playing like a man possessed since the raiders/texans upsets breathed new life into the eagles' season. he's a free agent after this year and has been in the league for 13 years now. i think he sees this as his last great chance to get a ring and damn i hope he gets it. he's probably my favorite eagle and i hope he caps off the Hall of Fame career with a championship.

he can sign with dallas in the offseason

he'll have to get a rap sheet first.

Picked the AFC 100% correct in the 4 games. The NFC? Not so much. This is the year of the birds, I guess.

Although, the Steelers played the best game they've probably played in 2 seasons. They are going to be confident and know they can beat the Ravens. The Ravens also know they can beat the Steelers, but have a crapload of injuries. I think the all PA superbowl will be a reality.

I wonder if ad execs see the potential Super Bowl matchups and think "ahh, hell, let's just save the money until next year"?

Seriously. Worst. Potential. Super. Bowl. Ever.

The most watchable Super Bowl would be Philly/Pittsburgh, but how much of the country can muster more than a passing interest in that game? Baltimore/Arizona? I'd rather watch an episode of Blind Date, starring Tim Tebow and Thom Brennaman.

philly-pittsburgh would be big ratings. there's a reason that pittsburgh has been seemingly playing at 4:15 or on sunday/monday night all the time. they've got a big fan base and are a high profile team. the eagles are also a high profile team, pretty much like the rest of the nfc east.

pittsburgh-philly would have the best storylines and get the best ratings, and you're right, arizona-baltimore is the matchup that the nfl would least like to see.

Go Steelers. Surely the Ravens won't have any more blind luck up their sleeve.

And I guess go Eagles. It'd be the best matchup, though it'd be cool to see the Cardinals going for the title after so many years of futility.

Well I got three of my four picks this week right only missing the Cards game, which I think everyone did.

So this week:

Ravens and Eagles

The Eagles are probably the lowest profile team in the NFC East. There just aren't that many Eagles fans outside the Delaware Valley. The Steelers, however, might be the 2nd most popular team in the NFL nationwide, and, unlike Dallas, they have far less animosity built up toward them. Philly is big enough, and with McNabb/Westbrook, have enough star power to satisfy viewers.

But ads are bought and paid for already. They aren't waiting to see the matchup before selling those bad boys. The country is still going to watch. This isn't the World Series.

my friend in boston would beg to differ. she found a bar in boston that is basically eagles central on sundays 8-)

you're probably right that the eagles are the lowest-profile team in the nfc east, but forbes rated the eagles as the 7th most valuable franchise in the nfl - though the cowboys are #1, giants are #2 and redskins are #4. the ravens are 10th and the steelers are 18th and arizona is 25th. the eagles are the 8th most popular team in the nfl, according to a harris poll from last year. the steelers are #3, baltimore is tied for 26th and the cardinals are 29th.

Philly and under, Pittsburgh and under

Philly/Zona in the NFC Championship game didn't convince you to stop betting on football?

I can't fathom how many people lost on the Panthers v. Cards game

It's not like people were betting on the game straight up. A larger % of people actually took ARZ +10.
