he can sign with dallas in the offseason

he'll have to get a rap sheet first.

Pacman and Tank are both gone, and they've only had 1 player arrested in the last 2 years.

No wonder they rolled over like a bunch of little girls this season, no tough guys.

regardless, dawkins will not be leaving philly for dallas. the salary cap is going up by a lot after this season, and i've read multiple stories over the past week saying that resigning dawkins is top priority for the eagles.

I wonder if ad execs see the potential Super Bowl matchups and think "ahh, hell, let's just save the money until next year"?

Seriously. Worst. Potential. Super. Bowl. Ever.

The most watchable Super Bowl would be Philly/Pittsburgh, but how much of the country can muster more than a passing interest in that game? Baltimore/Arizona? I'd rather watch an episode of Blind Date, starring Tim Tebow and Thom Brennaman.

The ratings probably won't be good, but I couldn't care less about that. As a fan I think these 2 matchups are really intriguing. The Eagles AT Arizona for a chance at the super bowl? The Ravenas and Steelers getting it on in the snow for a chance at the super bowl? I love those matchups. There are a lot of good storylines too.

the spread opened at -5 on baltimore-pitt and that seemed high to me - like they were trying to induce the public into betting baltimore. well, that's what it looks like so far. 2/3 of the bets have gone toward baltimore but the line has moved a point in pittsburgh's direction - meaning the smart money is going on the steelers.

about 2/3 of the bets have gone on the eagles and the point has moved 1/2 to 1 point toward the eagles, so no clear trend there.

No idea where to post this, but it could end up being pretty big news - so I'm going with this thread.

The always-beloved "sources" are now saying the Cowboys may consider cutting TO.

Improving locker room chemistry will be the highest priority for the Dallas Cowboys this offseason and that will force serious discussions between Wade Phillips' coaching staff and owner Jerry Jones about whether to release controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens, according to team and league sources.

"I think we all know that chemistry is the problem with this team more than the schemes or anything else,'' a Cowboys source said. "Are we going to continue to allow talent to outweigh everything else in the decisions we make with players and putting the roster together? We're like the Redskins used to be when they signed every player they wanted. There's more to it than talent. It has to be more about the team.''

"The big one [Owens] didn't get discussed yet, but I'm sure it will and real hard.''

they also have the wrong coach for that type of atmosphere. you can do what the pats did and bring in a randy moss, but you'd better have a strong leader as coach and other senior leadership on the team (brady). the cowboys have a pushover as coach and romo is still young. they have the wrong makeup to just load the organization with talent and not care about the makeup of the team.

You may be right about the rest of the team, but I'm not sure a disciplinarian head coach would do much good for TO.

Look at his relationship with Bill Parcells. He was still a circus, even with a strong personality at HC.

I remember people laughing off this idea earlier, but now there may be something to the idea that LT may not be back with San Diego next year.

Is there a chance that Tomlinson won’t play for the Chargers next season?

“I wish we knew the answers to all of these questions now, but we don’t,” said General Manager A.J. Smith. “We want our evaluation process to be as thorough as possible. We always start with open minds and with the same goal every year: put together the team that gives us the best chance to bring a championship to San Diego.

Dumping LaDainian Tomlinson for Darren Sproles would be an absolutely horrid decision. But I thought the same thing about dumping Mary Schottenheimer for Norv Turner and A.J. Smith thought that was a good idea too.

and people scoffed when I suggested that might happen

Everyone (including myself) who didn't give this a chance forgot A.J. Smith - one of the dumber GMs out there, apparently - was making the decisions in San Diego.

Why would people scoff at the idea that a team would give up on an expensive RB with a ton of miles on his legs who just can't stay healthy or produce anymore?

1,110 yards and 12 total TDs is not producing?

He's not the greatest RB (possibly) ever anymore, but he's still a whole lot better than Darren Sproles. As for staying healthy, he's played in less than 16 games in a season one time in his career - 2004. He got hurt in the last two playoff appearances for SD, but three games out of 35 doesn't indicate he "can't stay healthy."

He's averaged what, 400 touches a year for 8 years? He went under 4 yards per carry this season and his production dropped a lot, and he hasn't been able to finish two seasons in a row. These guys fall apart quickly. NFL teams can't afford to pay exhorbitant dollars for pedestrian numbers. He's got Shaun Alexander written all over him.

Teams can get in a lot of trouble from trying to squeeze every last yards out of a RB.

If I could remember which thread I suggested it in, I could go find out. I know Truffle really though I was dumb for suggesting it.

I'm not necessarily advocating it. But I don't understand how anybody who has paid attention to the NFL for the past decade could scoff at the idea. RBs don't last, they fall apart in a hurry, and LDT has shown signs of wearing down after taking on a huge workload for years.

The last time he had 400 touches was three years ago (348 rushing, 56 receiving). Since then he's had 375 and 346. He's had more than 400 touches three times in his career (2002, 2003, 2006).

Yes, he's been hurt in the final game or two the past two seasons, but has also played all 16 regular season games each year. LT is definitely past his prime and may begin to fall off some, but you don't cut him because you have Darren Sproles. Cut back on his carries? Sure, but don't cut him after he's missed three games in the past 35 opportunities.

Now, if we were discussing signing him - I wouldn't give him a mega-deal at this point. But since he's already signed and you're going to take a cap hit whether you keep him or cut him, then you might as well see if he can still be a very productive back. If he can't, cut him next year.

I wouldn't scoff if they had a legit replacement for him. I don't see Darren Sproles as a legit replacement.

This bandwagon to start Sproles didn't start until he diced up the Colt defense - which even Colts fans were admitting was a great matchup for Sproles to have success in. After that game, he piled up all of 15 yards on 11 carries. I've seen no evidence to this point that he's a feature back.

Posted
I don't know why Sproles has to be the only replacement. RBs aren't that hard to find, and aren't that hard to replace. Draft somebody this year and you're fine.

They may, but then you wonder will the replacement - and the subsequent loss of ability to upgrade elsewhere - be worth cutting loose of a up-to-now good to very good RB.

Although, I haven't heard anything about cutting LT until Sproles had the two big games against Denver and Indy to close out the year.
