Chiefs select Ryan Succop, K, from South Carolina.

Oh come on KC, at least take the hometown guy Wolfert if it's going to be a kicker for Mr. Irrelevant.

I actually like Succop. He could be a solid kicker for them.

Well with the 49ers having just one more pick I got to say I'm as happy as I could be.

Crabtree - Best player in the draft

Coffee - Allows us to have a really dominant run game with him and Gore

McKillop - Big East Player of Year that tested much faster and more athletic than expected

Davis - As a soon to be a BSU grad this is probably the happiest I have ever been after a pick

Roscoe - This is only pick I have a problem with. We have Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker why draft a TE?

Taylor - A FS to give us more depth and has the athletic ability to perhaps start someday

how do you decide which teams to root for? cubs, rockets and 49ers???

Cubs, Dolphins, Lakers, and Oilers here.

So whens the last time the Bears drafted 3 WR's?

The last time they had a QB to make it worthwhile 8-)

Overall I like this bear draft. Lots of athleticism

While reading the Cowboys coverage of the draft at the DMN site, I stumbled on Martellus Bennett's blog.

Its a good thing he is pretty good at football, if it wasn't for that he would be cooking the chicken from popeye's he is fixing to eat. I am pretty sure he has the lowest IQ on the entire roster.

I really like the Gilbert, Iglesias, Moore and Freeman picks.

Wish they had gotten an OL.

yeah robinson or fulton would have been nice in the 5th. but i really like knox, too. we're already deep at o-line, though it's a shame we didn't become deeper. we'll hit it hard next year.

Give him the talent the 49ers had and Marino almost certainly would have won at least one ring.

It's a little like saying Ron Santo isn't as good as Joe Morgan because Santo doesn't have a ring.

A 3rd TE?

NFL.com has him listed as a guard.

Interesting. Sounds like another athlete. Or a mix-up.

Athlete.

[expletive]/tight end

So the filter thinks "fullback" is a curse word? Charlie Weis approves.

I thought that was weird and didn't understand why . . . until somebody pointed out to me what it begins and ends with.

Haha. Maybe if the Bears drafted some OLinemen that could give Cutler a little time to throw, they wouldn't need to draft the fastest WR's in the draft.

i'm just talking about dolphin fans who are only dolphin fans because of dan marino, a quarterback who didn't win them one superbowl. if you're going to be a frontrunner, be a frontrunner. but i'm not looking to debate what he would have done with other players, that's all conjecture.

i really think we have the guys to give him enough time. orlando pace is one of the best pass blockers of all time, and he's got a few years left, i think. couple that with the newfound depth of the line in general and i think the line can wait a year. we have:

LT- Pace

LG- Omiyale

C- Kreutz

RG- Shaffer

RT- Williams

with Garza, Beekman, and Buenning on the bench. I would have liked one more, but that's a fairly deep line.

I'm mad confused by the Dolphins' draft. I love the first two rounds--Davis is a stud, and Smith could also be a stud. Lots of size and overall athletic ability in a secondary that's been below average for years = good. The Eric Green signing isn't going to stop either of these guys from having a chance to start. There's almost no way the Dolphins shouldn't be able to field a quality secondary out of Will Allen, Vontae Davis, Sean Smith, Jason Allen, Gibril Wilson, Yeremiah Bell, Eric Green, and maybe even Chris Clemons. (BTW, i find it hilarious to get a guy named Clemons from Clemson.)

Pat White was a surprise, but one that has at least three chances of success--qb, wr, or rb. For a team that had trouble stretching the field offensively last year, that's a strong potential positive. And, of course, there's the wildcat thing.

On the other hand, the second day stuff is just kind of weird. Patrick Turner doesn't stretch the field, but he does give you a gigantic receiver with above average hands, so that's understandable, if a bit of a reach. At least it was until you drafted Brian Hartline 21 picks later. Huh?

John Malbone with the next pick...a complete tight end prospect, but a long way from contributing, most likely. Maybe he's being groomed for when Fasano, Martin, or both are gone, but why pick tight end now?

Chris Clemons is an interesting prospect at safety, but it's still perplexing that they've drafted 3 DBs and nobody on either line at this point.

Finally, an OL in Andrew Gardner, a pick I liked at this point in the draft He's tall with a good frame and great feet. He's just not likely ready to contribute much, if anything, in '05. Moreover, he's a tackle. No guard? The Dolphins' line struggled when both starting guards last year went down. I guess they feel that good about Donald Thomas and Shawn Murphy, the 6th and 4th round picks from last year. I just think they could have used more depth or addressed the DL at all.

And to wrap it up, LB JD Fulsom from Weber state...still no defensive line help for a team whose #2 sack provider had 3 last season. I guess the expectations for Langford and Merling are just that high. Fulsom will probably be a special teamer or get cut.

All in all, the secndary should be massively improved from last year, and the WR corps should be deeper. I'm not sure Harline or Turner helps them make plays in the end zone, where the Dolphins had trouble (top 3 receivers had a total of 5 touchdown catches), but we'll see. The Fins are clearly banking on improvement from their young linemen, on both sides of the ball.

pretty sure that was discussed about 15 pages ago.

i liked the teams that traded a first round pick in next year's draft - expected to be a stronger group of players - to acquire a second round pick in this year's draft. those moves always pay off. i also thank seattle for giving the eagles a 3rd round pick in next year's draft, plus a 5th (cornelius ingram) and 7th in this year's draft, for a pick late in the 3rd round (deon butler).

I'd also like the Bears to take a look at some of the undrafted running backs. I'm surprised 2 other Johnsons were drafted as backs and not Jeremiah Johnson or Ian Johnson.
