They aren't drafting a guard or center in the first round. There are too many other positions of need that have a higher level of importance placed on them.

Well 2nd or 3rd round though, but give me Taylor Mays if we can trade up

I would love to get Mays, but my concern is his size....will he be a long term S or a LBer?

He's huge for a S...Who knows he could pull an Urlacher

If Mays can stay at his current he will become a monster of a S, but if his long-term projections has him at LBer, I much rather draft a legit LBer like Aaron Curry or James Laurinaitis. Which reminds, I do think the Bears need to seriously considering drafting Urlacher's eventual replacement. it doesn't have to be this yr, but within 2 yrs they will need to.

I agree on all three points....Maybe not this year per say for Urlacher, but in the near future he's getting way to slow for the Cover 2

Mays will stick at safety.

He's a beast for a safety though...It'll almost be hard not to move him to LB

At already 6'3 and 230lbs (if you believe his listed weight) he's already pushing the limit on being a safety. I wish I could share your certaintly, but it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up at LBer within two yrs.

That size is Urlacher range

Isn't Urlacher about 6'4" 260?

Yes and that's why he was a freak at safety in college...Mike Brown is 5'10" 207lbs...So Mays is still a beast compared to him...Also two other safties just to give you an example Ed Reed 5'10" 200lbs, Troy Polamalu 5'10" 207lbs, Bob Sanders 5'8'' 200lbs

gotta agree with rchap on this one. anything over 210 is pretty rare for an nfl safety; sean taylor was around 215 and he was considered a big safety. i guess mays could be a big enough freak where he has enough speed to play at that size, but i suspect that once he gets in an nfl strength and conditioning program he'll end up being a better fit at OLB than FS.

it's a broad range

Well is sort of is compared to most safeties in the NFL...Not many safeties are over six feet tall

Mays is the fastest player on USC. Straight line speed isn't an issue. Maybe at his size you're concerned about hip flexibility and his ability to turn and run. He would be an interesting OLB prospect but I think he'll stick at safety as well.

Yeah I'm not saying that they won't keep him there and I'm not saying he isn't athletic enough to stay there, but some teams might want to put him as a LB because of speed and size

Wisconsin running back P.J. Hill is going to enter the draft, according to ESPN.

Questioning his choice?

Yeah, he isn't even the best back on his own team and he can't stay healthy. I can't see him doing anything in the NFL at all. Maybe at full back? I don't get it.

He's probably leaving early because he figures his stock won't rise by coming back. If he's stuck behind a guy on the roster, his stock may only drop. He could potentially be grabbed this year in a late round to be a team's bruiser (similar to, but not as good as, LenDale).

I wouldn't question any backs decision to come out early. Their ability is like a ticking time bomb.

The only reason Mays wouldn't stick at safety is if a team is really desperate for a LB and moves him out of necessity. He won't grow his way out of the position.

If Mays doesn't fall to 18, which he won't, and the Bears don't trade up, which they shouldn't....what do you guys think about Rashad Johnson from Alabama? He's only abuot 180-185, but is a great pass defender. He may also be able to play some corner. I like him a lot, and because of size he may last til the 3rd. But he reminds me of a smaller Danieal Manning, with actual football instincts though and not a raw athlete.

With all the talk about how horrible higher picks are nowadays, and how nobody wants to trade up and everybody wants to trade down, I think a shrewd NFL GM should be able to make a great deal moving up to get the guy he wants this year.
