It cracks me up El Cabello just completely ignores the fact that Favre is 40 years old, coming off a pretty serious injury that wasnt surgically repaired. The only way Favre makes it thru the entire season, is if he triples his pain killer prescriptions.....

And I laugh at Bears fans who think that Favre going to the Vikings isn't going to improve them and make them even more the fav for the division.

Brett Favre at age 40 is not likely to play the entire season, especially coming off a injury.

elcaballo, meet Mr Rosenfels.

They'd be better off.

But sure, he will not make it throught the season THIS YEAR.

Childress at Winter Park

May 7th, 2009 – 9:09 AM by Judd Zulgad

Well this is an interesting twist.

We were told by multiple sources yesterday that Vikings coach Brad Childress was going to visit with Brett Favre. But as NFL players like to say, the camera doesn’t lie. In this case, FOX9’s cameras captured Childress walking into Winter Park at around 7 a.m. today.

That was surprising given that Childress had been expected to meet with Favre today as well. ESPN initially reported on Tuesday that the two would meet “later this week” and there is no reason to expect that won’t happen. But at this point (9:08 a.m.), no meeting appears to have taken place.

The Vikings are still going to run the offense through Adrian Peterson. Favre threw a avg of 4.5 more passes per game then Jackson/Gus last year. And Brett had to throw the ball alot.

Had to? Or insisted on it? It's not like the Jets were without capable running backs last year. If anybody in this discussion is likely to throw less than he had to last year, it's Cutler.

So with a Favre/Peterson backfield, does that become the most turnover prone backfield in the NFL?

Since Cutler has become a starter..

Cutler - 45 turnovers in 1220 pass attempts

Favre - 47 turnovers in 1257 pass attempts

And this is with a so called "injury prone, to old decling Favre".

You seriously need to take the blinders off when it comes to your loverboy there. I understand being a Packers fan who worships Favre. If I was one, I would have as well. The guy did great things, 5+ years ago. He's not the same. To insinuate that he is not old and declining is just laughable.

Example No. 1,523,773 why simple statistical analysis is inaccurate in pro football.

lets see, a young, budding, rising QB versus an old, washed up decling QB

nice spin...

So you're comparing a rookie QB in his first 30+ starts to a guy who's been playing for 15+ years in terms of mistakes made? Way to compare apples to oranges. I think the probability of Cutler getting better and Favre getting worse are both about 90%.

ETA: I see I'm not the only one.

Also, I heard something yesterday about Favre possibly having the biceps tendon fixed surgically and still being ready for mini camps and training camp. Anybody else hear anything similar.

Im not even a fan of Favre anymore. And if goes to Minnesota I hope im wrong and I hope Green Bay destroys him both times we play them. I never said he was the same Favre. I never said the Vikings would be getting Favre from 5 years ago.

Again im not saying Favre is a better QB then Cutler.

Im saying NEXT YEAR Favre with the Vikings will have a better year then Cutler with the Bears.

You said "so called" old and declining. He is old and declining. Saying "so called" makes it quite obvious you don't care about the facts.

It's not completely impossible, given the receivers, offensive line and running backs he will have.

But even given all that, I'd take the under on it.

Because Favre is going to be 40. It makes it impossible for him to have a better year then Cutler?

I would love to make a bet.

However... It would suck to make a bet for Favre to do well with the Vikings. Not because I think he will fail, Its because Im a Packer fan.

Yes, quality 16 game seasons from 40 year old QBs just don't happen.

That's such a cop-out. So what, you think he will do well, if he does, you win money, if he doesn't, you get the satisfaction of a rival failing.

What do you want to bet? I don't wanna bet MONEY. But if you can think of something clever I will make a bet with anyone on this site that wants to bet with me.

Wait, is someone actually trying to argue that a 40 year old QB coming off a disastrous late-season collapse isn't declining?

Really?

Im saying Brett Favre next year in Minnesota, where he would not be throwing the ball 30 times a game, will have a better year then Cutler in Chicago.

In Brett Favre's entire career, he's had one season where he didn't average 30 attempts per game. 2003...he attempted 29.4. If you're going to use the health of his entire career to say he'll be healthy this year, why not use his passes attempted stats from his entire career to determine how many passes he'll attempt?
