No, the fact that Favre isn't good and is very old and injury prone is the reason he can't have a better year.

Keep banging your head, might as well stick your fingers in your ears as well as you pretend that Brett Favre still lives in 1999.

Favre is 1-5 in his last 6 games vs the Bears, with the one win coming on the New Years Eve game where the Bears had nothing to play for. I hope to hell he does go to Minnesota.

His last 6 games have will have no effect on how he plays against them this year. He is also 22-10 in his career against the Bears.

There are many more players involved in his last 6 games somehow that are still on the Bears than any previous to that. The point is, that in recent years, the Bears have frankly, beat the crap out of Favre.

His last 6 games are a much better indicator in how he will play than what he did in his 20's and early 30's. I welcome his return if only to improve the Bears record against him.

I belive the Vikings are better then the Bears. So I don't see that happening.

Before this offseason, they were a little better.

That's not the case anymore.

But its is. And thats where we disagree.

EL CABALLO, I think the fact that every Bear fan in this thread plus another Packer fan is excited about Favre being in the division should show you all you need to know.

I bet Tillman, Vasher, Urlacher et al are pretty happy they get to pad their stats if this happens. :)

Saying that every Bear fan and a Packer fan is excited about Favre going to the Vikings does not show me all I need to know.

Personally, I think the Vikings are better off with Rosenfels. But hey, go with the old man instead if you want.

Well, his declining stats, his age, recent injury history and gunslinger mentality (along with being a questionable teammate with poor preparation during his time with the Jets) should show you all you need to know.

It cracks me up El Cabello just completely ignores the fact that Favre is 40 years old, coming off a pretty serious injury that wasnt surgically repaired. The only way Favre makes it thru the entire season, is if he triples his pain killer prescriptions.....

Im saying Favre this year has a better chance of winning with the Vikings then Cutler with the Bears.

Because you don't understand that Brett Favre isn't that good anymore.

His stats last year before he got hurt would disagree.

I paid attention to the Jets all year, he wasn't good. He had one big game, and maybe one or two other good ones. But he stunk before he got hurt. He hasn't been good for years.

Once again the stats tell a completely different story.

Week 1 at Miami: 15-22, 194 yards, 68%, 2 TD, 0 INT, 125 QB rating.

Week 2: 18-26, 181 yards, 69%, 1 TD, 1 INT, 86 QB rating.

Week 3: 30-42, 271 yards, 71.4%, 3 TD's, 2 INT's, 93 QB rating.

Week 4: 24-34, 289 yards, 71%, 6 TD's, 1 INT, 124 QB rating.

I see 1 big game and 2 other good ones just in the first four.

Week 6: 25-33, 189 yards, 76%, 1 TD, 2 INT, 74 QB rating

Week 7: 21-38, 197 yards, 55%, 0 TD, 2 INT, 48 QB rating.

Week 8: 28-40, 290 yards, 70%, 2 TD, 3 INT, 76 QB rating.

Week 9: 19-28, 201 yards, 68%, 0 TD, 1 INT, 74 QB rating.

I see 1 bad game, and three average games.

Week 10: 14-19, 167 yards, 74%, 1 TD, 0 INT, 118 QB rating.

Week 11: 26-33, 258 yards, 79%, 2 TD, 0 INT, 119 QB rating

Week 12: 25-32, 224 yards, 78%, 2 TD, 1 INT, 104 QB rating.

I see 3 more good games.

So in total you're looking at 1 great game, 5 good games, 3 average games, 2 bad games. Then he got hurt and the wheels fell off. The good games came against some pretty good defenses too.

And I laugh at Bears fans who think that Favre going to the Vikings isn't going to improve them and make them even more the fav for the division.

SInce coming to Chicago Lovie Smith has had Favres number, and that was a younger, healthier, and better Brett Favre. Im not worried at all about Brett Favre

Aside from assuming Favre stays healthy and somehow reverses the downward spiral of his career at 40, anybody saying that move makes the Vikings clear favorites over the Bears has to assume that the oft-injured Adrian Peterson will also stay completely healthy this year. The notion that Favre would come in and throw 20 times a game is a joke. If they go through the trouble of acquiring Favre, you better believe they are going to put the ball in his hands quite a bit. Favre isn't going to change who he is, and Brad Childress, of all people, does not have the ability to pull in the reins on anybody of Favre's stature.

The oft-injured Adrian Peterson who has missed 2 games out of 32 possible in the NFL? He basically had two injuries in college and has been very durable in the NFL.

Some of you guys are completely ignoring the numbers on both sides. The numbers have not shown Cutler is as good as you're making him and he's going to have a decrease in legit targets to throw to this year. The numbers showed that Favre was better than you're making him last year before the injury.

Of course I won't ignore that Favre is 39 and Cutler is likely to improve. But for this 1 year, I don't expect either to vary significantly from last year. Favre would have better weapons around him, Cutler would have inferior to what he had.

I also won't discount the injury possibility with Favre at his age. However I expect him to take fewer hits this year and not throw as much.

hawkeye, I was at that game 1 vs Miami. Favre was not good. He had a very lucky TD and two INTs dropped.

Favre is washed up. I hope the Vikings go hard after him, get him, and fail, once again, to do anything in the postseason.

The problem, as has been mentioned by others, is that getting Favre will take away touches from Adrian Peterson. Favre is a lot riskier as a turnover machine while Adrian Peterson should have more touches than anyone in the NFL.

As for the excitement/notoriety this would bring to the NFC North this year, nothing will ever surpass the hype that the NFC East will get, as always. No matter how much Washington or Dallas struggles, they will always get more respect.

The Vikings are still going to run the offense through Adrian Peterson. Favre threw a avg of 4.5 more passes per game then Jackson/Gus last year. And Brett had to throw the ball alot.

Brett Favre at age 40 is not likely to play the entire season, especially coming off a injury.

elcaballo, meet Mr Rosenfels.
