He'd be fine until about game 4, when he decides his latest bruise is too much and shuts it down again.

I'm not aware of his injury history outside of this past season. Is it that bad throughout his career?

And in my previous post, I meant best available at WR, not just best available. Now that we have a quality QB, we need to give him the necessary tools to be as effective at his job as he can be.

Eh, I'm not being totally serious. But I know I'm not the only one who suspected that perhaps Lloyd could have played on some of those Sundays when he didn't.

He had a reputation for being more interested in his music career than football, and for sitting out unnecessarily for relatively minor injuries. I don't think that reputation was challenged last year.

And I disagree that they have to sign others and draft best available WR in the 2nd. Part of the value of getting Cutler, as well as investing heavily in the line, is that should make the wide receivers better. If Orton was still here, then I would agree it's absolutely necessary to give him the best possible weapons, to offset his lack of talent. Hester should be better with Cutler than he would be with Orton. Bennett should be better than he would be with Orton. Olsen should be better, Clark may even be better, and quite honestly, I expect some marginal 3rd receiver type to be better with Cutler instead of Orton.

If they see a WR available that they'd love to have, who is worthy of the pick, then take him. But this is still a team whose defensive talent in slipping on a weekly basis, a team with some questions now, and in the future, on the offensive line. Bottom line, it's a team with needs everywhere but QB and RB. They can't narrow their search in the draft to best WR available. That's how they ended up over drafting guys like Bazuin and Wolfe, when there was clearly better players available at other positions.

how long have they been calling chad johnson chad ochocinco as if that's his real name and not some ignorant joke?

He legally changed it. They've been calling him that as a joke for a long time, then the crazy coot went and made it legal. I'll bet most outlets aren't sure what the hell to do with him at this point.

Probably since it became his real name.

Actually, it's been since before it became his real name.

they're sitting there on sportscenter calmly discussing him as ochocinco without even cracking a smile at all.

it's ochenta y cinco you idiots!!!!!!!!! can we invoke the max power rule and give him a name that he can actually spell correctly?

Some people would call him that but it wasn't very often (at least on national things, I'm sure in some areas local programs ran with the joke constantly). In the couple of months after he changed his name, there were many radio and TV people that were still saying Chad Johnson and then had to correct themselves on air to say Chad Ochocinco.

Yeah, I'd seriously consider bringing back Lloyd. I think the coaching staff, like other staffs before them, may feel his committment to football is significantly lower than their demands. But he's a halfway decent talent who could potentially have a big year with a Pro Bowl caliber QB throwing to him.

I agree. I think Cutler can do for Lloyd what he did for Royal last year.

Actually, the idiot is Ochocinco for not changing his name to the right thing. But that wouldn't be nearly as funny or cool had he done "ochenta y cinco" or "ochenty cinco".

I wouldn't go that far, but 50-60 catches isn't out of the realm of possibility, even if he is the 3rd or 4th WR.

Technically his name isn't wrong. He doesn't call himself number eighty-five. He calls himself eight five. So, technically his name is correct in being Ocho Cinco (two words, both capitalized).

Did he ever call himself eight five? I've heard plenty of people referred to as the individual digits, and not the actual number, but how did that go with Chad?

On second thought, I don't give a crap. Why am I talking about this?

That was my thought. If Cutler proves to be a good QB in Chicago, WRs will enjoy playing for someone who can get them the ball and they will not want to take plays off (or so I hope).

See, Chad has a way of taking over your mental space without you even realizing it.

Next thing you know, you'll be talking about which supermodel Tom Brady is knocking up.

Gishelle is worth talking about.

Im of the opinion Cutler will make the current Bears receivers better too. Receivers wont come to Chicago to die anymore. Id like to see Lloyd again at least on the roster and hopefully Bennett can be Cutlers slot receiver and pass Davis on the depth chart. Olsen will be a nice RZ threat running some fades because he has a qb who knows how to throw the ball now. Orton threw some pretty crummy end zone fades to Olsen when he lined up outside last year.

McShay's 7 (!) round mock is out.

He has the Bears taking:

(49) Chicago Bears Derrick Williams WR Penn State

(99) Chicago Bears (Compensatory) Corvey Irvin DT Georgia

(119) Chicago Bears Captain Munnerlyn* DC South Carolina

(140) Chicago Bears (from Denver through Seattle) Courtney Greene SS Rutgers

(154) Chicago Bears Jonathan Luigs OC Arkansas

(190) Chicago Bears Joel Bell OT Furman

(246) Chicago Bears (compensatory) Mortty Ivy OLB West Virginia

(251) Chicago Bears (compensatory) Phillip Hunt DE Houston

I have to say I don't know much about most of these guys outside of Williams.
