Krod's deteriorating peripherals could be a problem for the Mets. He better hope he doesn't blow many saves next April and May or they might throw him under the bus.

I am certain to be in the minority on this one, but I think that is a pretty good deal for the Mets.

I think it's a good deal only in the sense that they got him for what many probably believe was much cheaper than everyone thought he'd go for. But I don't care if you combined K-Rod, Trevor Hoffman, and Mariano Rivera into one uber closer... I still wouldn't pay him more than $10 mil a year

That's actually quite ridiculous. I'm not a fan of "closers", but incredibly good relief pitchers are easily worth that type of money. Rivera alone is worthy of being paid more than $10m a year.

KRod to the Mets was one of the most predictable things of the offseason.

I'm just surprised that he didn't get an insane four or five year deal at 13-14M per.

That's a steal for the Mets....I know what you guys mean that he shouldn't be making more than 10m will no closer should be making more than 10m, but that aside them getting him for this cheap is a steal

Considering that Toronto gave BJ Ryan 5/47 a couple of years ago, this doesn't sound too expensive at all.
I'm sure Riccardi would beg to differ...

I mean all he has to do for the option to vest is stay healthy. If he does it comes out to 4/51, more money for fewer years. The risk to the team is much lower though, so all in all it's a fair deal, more fair than Ryan's.

I was shocked when I saw the numbers of how cheap he went. Gagne effect? Maybe teams just won't pay a ridiculous amount for a closer anymore. K-rod set the standard at 12.3 million per and everyone else should fall quite a bit below.

There's a 4th year vesting option at 14 mil... and I'd imagine it's pretty easy to vest. You're probably looking more at 4/51 than 3/37.

Nice signing by the Mets, lets see how they collapse this year :) K-Rod injury?

it may not even take an injury if his peripherals keep deteriorating. he's got a lot of mileage on that arm and body considering he weighs like 114 pounds
