So I decided to look up the 2002 Sagarin Predictor Ratings. The year Ohio State beat Miami in the Fiesta Bowl, USC beat Iowa in the Orange.

2. USC

3. Oklahoma

4. Miami

5. Texas

6. Georgia

7. Iowa

8. Ohio State

 

I wonder what they looked like before the bowl games. Ohio State may have been out of the top 10.

College Football bowl games need to end before the NFL playoffs start. Having the Fiesta Bowl the day after the NFL playoffs was not a smart idea to generate interest.

Theoretically it's a lateral move to a program in terrible shape but being DC at USC isn't the same as it is at some other schools when Carroll is running the ship. That's a great hire for UW, though, and they should be able to compete better in California for players.

Probably. It's not exactly a secret that Carroll runs the show on defense and delegates a lot more on offense so a "name" hire for DC is extremely unlikely.

With Texas Tech losing to Mississippi, Oklahoma State losing to Oregon,Missouri needing overtime to beat Northwestern and now Texas up 2 on Ohio State in the fourth quarter, the Big 12 isn't looking too good in the bowl season.
