Don't know if this is the right thread, but there's not really another one, so here goes:

Defensive back Eric Gordon - probably the second best recruit in the state of Tennessee - chose Tennessee over Alabama. This was a great, great job by Kiffin to pull him in.

I'm a little curious to see what he says. Gordon was a pretty good bet to go to Bama until Kiffin got the job here. Then Kiffin made a strong push for Gordon and, apparently, Lane showing up at Gordon's state championship game (where his team knocked off Maryville, who had won 74 straight games) made a big impact in his choice.

So let's talk about potential possibilities regarding the national title game. I see only a couple potential outcomes:

1. We realize that the Big XII doesn't play defense, and the pure spread fails in the SEC, Florida wins 41-14.

2. We realize that the SEC doesn't play offense, and Oklahoma can put points up on Florida, Florida or Oklahoma win 45-42 or something.

3. Bradford takes the post-heisman dump, Florida wins 65-14.

ou gets up by three touchdowns early, florida is forced to pass, our front 7 puts pressure on tebow, forcing him to be inaccurate, OU wins by 30

yeah if you decide to just pass rush the heck out of tebow, im pretty sure demps, rainey and harvin will combine for about 300 yards rushing.

Does Obama’s win make OU Gatorbait?

Could Barack Obama’s election as president be good news for the Florida Gators?

ObamaSince 1984, seven presidential elections have been held. In the previous six election years, each time a Democrat won, an SEC team claimed college football's national championship. The four times a Republican won, non-SEC teams earned the title.

The last time this trend didn’t hold?

In 1980, the year Ronald Reagan was first elected to serve as president, Georgia was the national champion.

Year: President elect – National Champ

2008: Barack Obama (Dem) -- ??

2004: George W. Bush (Rep) -- USC

2000: George W. Bush (Rep) -- Oklahoma

1996: Bill Clinton (Dem) -- Florida

1992: Bill Clinton (Dem) -- Alabama

1988: George H.W. Bush (Rep) -- Notre Dame

1984: Ronald Reagan (Rep) -- BYU

1980: Ronald Reagan (Rep) -- Georgia

I won't say that. Nick Saban wanted him, and so do I. So this is a great win for Kiffin. As much as I would love to have Gordon, there this certain TOP DB prospect in the country I prefer much, much more then Eric Gordon and that Dre Kirkpatrick (#1 DB prospect on rivals, #3 on scout, and #1 on ESPN). This young man is a freak, and could start and/or be the crown jewel of any recruiting class in America. Back on Gordon the kid is an incredible talent, and I mention to dew, (Truffle, you can even ask dew himself) that Kiffin's number 1 and 2 jobs as HC of Tennessee is keeping Gordon and Marlon Brown in state.

With that said, Alabama's numbers are closing fast, and Alabama COULD NOT afford a spot in their class to Gordon (especially after the very SURPRISED commitment of Jonathon Atchison), not with talent like Patrick/Kelly/Randle/Cox/Robinson/Bumphis/Norwood/ still available and having schollies saved for them. Make not mistake, Saban and Alabama would have taken Gordon without a doubt, but losing Gordon doesn't hurt Alabama, like not getting Tim Tebow.

Sorry Truffle to disappoint you about not given you an "epic" tantrum about not getting Gordon. Alabama is simply at a time where they can afford to turn away good prospects, or not go after them as hard as they once did. I'm not taking anything away from Tennessee, this is a great keep for them, but Alabama have bigger fishes to catch then Gordon.

we'll be up by 30 at that point, so florida will be forced to pass every down

It's more likely that OU doesn't score three touchdowns all game than it is that OU goes up by three touchdowns at any point.

we will probably score at least three touchdowns in each quarter

Paraphrasing...

"cue Redflash saying they didn't want Gordon anyway"

"Sorry truffle, but here's three paragraphs why Gordon probably wasn't good enough for Bama anyways"

Trans;

The truth:

There is no room in this yr's recruiting class for Eric Gordon. It's a great keep for Tennessee, and if he was good enough to get an offer from Saban, then he's good enough for Bama. But like Tebow, I never believe he was coming to Bama. I wanted him to come to Bama, but never felt we had a chance at him, like Marlon Brown. That's fine, I'm not upset. There is one thing you learn about Saban, (and vance can tell you) is that Nick is a tireless coach and recruiter. The best in the business, IMO. If he losses Player A, then he has Player B, C, D, etc, lined up. Losing Gordon doesn't hurt Alabama, losing Tebow did, cause Shula put all of his eggs into one basket and missed on on some good QB prospects..

not having Tebow hasn't hurt....except that Florida beat Bama, are in the national title game, and have a better 3 year record during Tebow's tenure than Bama does. But other than that, no problems

I can promise you that you won't even get three possessions in each quarter. You'll be lucky to get 12 possessions all game. This isn't the Big XII.

i cant wait to see the tears on florida's player's faces when they realize that they aren't going up against some patty cake offense anymore

i mean, alabama's terrible offense got 10 possessions, i figure we'll get probably 15 MAYBE 20

"Coach they are PASSING the ball, is that even legal? why aren't they running it up the middle? what do we DO???"

I'd be looking forward to Florida losing so much more if Oklahoma would stop pretending to be victims before every single game they play. I think Bob Stoops must scour ESPN message boards for "OU sucks" posts and then tell the media about how they're playing with a chip on the shoulder because they, OKLAHOMA, aren't getting respect.
