I like how for years now the media has been saying how 3,000 strikeouts is one of the HOF clinchers for pitchers, while Blyleven was 300 shy of 4,000 and still isn't in.

Absurd

Henderson.

Does anyone think that the BWAA may keep out all the steroid era players (or at least those with a taint) until such time as their value can be sorted out?

I could see Bonds never getting in though. It's kind of ironic that two of the greatest of all time could be left out of the HOF.

If Bonds and Clemens dont make it in, the Hall may as well not even exist, at least to anyone petaining to the late 80's-early 00's, except for Maddux.

The Big Unit? Pedro? Griffey? I bet all three make it in.

I ---SOAPDROPPING--- hate Mark Grace.

Slump Buster with your wife?

Overrated ballplayer, horrendous announce, douchebag, creates armies of people who make lameass slumpbuster jokes.

Henderson

McGwire

Raines

Blyleven

Trammell

Those five unequivocally deserve to get in.

I go back and forth on Dawson... he's right on the edge. Grace is a half step behind, and probably deserves an inner circle spot in the Hall of Very Good. Lee Smith shouldn't get into the HoF without paying for admission.

• Harold Baines

• Jay Bell

• Bert Blyleven

• David Cone

• Andre Dawson

• Ron Gant

• Mark Grace

• Rickey Henderson

• Tommy John

• Don Mattingly

• Mark McGwire

• Jack Morris

• Dale Murphy

• Jesse Orosco

• Dave Parker

• Dan Plesac

• Tim Raines

• Jim Rice

• Lee Smith

• Alan Trammell

• Greg Vaughn

• Mo Vaughn

• Matt Williams

This is quite the list. Jessie Orosco and Rickey Henderson finally made it on the ballot. I can't decide who is he most ridiculous candidate, although I think that the frontrunners are Greg Vaughn and Dan Plesac.

Andre Dawson, Dan Plesac, and Mark Grace constitute the former Cubs on this ballot. Personally, I'm curious as to how Mark Grace, notorious for being the hits leader of the 90s, does on this ballot.

What about Lee Smith?

Rickey Henderson better be voted in. His acceptance speech will be epic.

OMFG yes. I would watch that.

When juxtaposed next to Santo's, it will be polar opposites of appreciation.

Rickey would probably think he was there to cut the ribbon at a mall opening or something.

Howry...surprised it took that long for someone to catch it.

In order of who I think deserves it most:

1. Rickey Henderson

2. Bert Blyleven

3. Mark McGwire (Frankly, at this point, I don't care anymore. Everyone knows he did Andro when it wasn't against the rules, and he was a memorable slugger in the 90's. His status deserves it even if you choose to completely ignore his stats.)

4. Alan Trammell

5. Tim Raines

6. Dale Murphy

7. Andre Dawson

8. Mark Grace

9. Jim Rice

10. Lee Smith

I'd probably limit it to the first 5 that truly deserve entry, though.

Grace was a hero of mine growing up, but he shouldn't get one vote. He didn't do anything hall worthy.

He's got a higher WARP3 than Jim Rice... then again, who doesn't?

No, seriously.

Career WARP3 values

Rickey Henderson - 189.8

Bert Blyleven - 147.7

Tim Raines - 131.1

Alan Trammell - 127.1

Mark McGwire - 109.8

Andre Dawson - 107.5

Tommy John - 103.8

Harold Baines - 98.6

David Cone - 94.2

Matt Williams - 91.2

Jay Bell - 88.8

Dale Murphy - 86.4

Mark Grace - 86.2

Lee Smith - 85.5

Jack Morris - 85.0

Dave Parker - 84.6

Don Mattingly - 84.3

Jim Rice - 80.2

Greg Vaughn - 65.3

Ron Gant - 62.9

Mo Vaughn - 61.2

Jesse Orosco - 60.9

Dan Plesac - 52.5

Obviously, there are arguments for peak vs. longevity and all that... but Jim Rice belongs nowhere near a HoF conversation.

The only reason Mattingly gets consideration is because he played in New York his whole career. If he'd have played in a smaller market like Kansas City or Pittsburgh, there'd be no way he'd even recieve a single vote. I'm not saying he'll get in, but he'll get the fair majority of his votes for the sole reason of being a very good Yankee. The same will go for Derek Jeter when he's on the ballot.

Grace also doesn't deserve admission. It's the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Very Good.

Lee Smith I could see. McGwire I could see. Henderson should absolutely make it. I wouldn't be upset if Blyleven made it in. And, of course, I'm a HUGE Andre Dawson fan, so I'm rooting for his admission, too.

And, of course, Ron Santo has to get in. This has gotta be the year. I don't think he'll be around for too many more of these, and I'd like to see him get in while he's alive.
