Man, it would be truly comical if Okie State beats OU. Imagine that happening and Tech going on to win the Big XII title...the backpedaling done by Texas fans of head-to-head being the end-all, be-all factor for championship games would create another Dust Bowl.
Actually, I think that scenario could work in Texas' favor. It would eliminate any possibility of Oklahoma being ranked higher than Texas, and therefore might increase Texas' chances of playing in the national championship game against the Alabama-Florida winner.

what he's saying is that since it's assumed that an OU win will put them ahead of texas and into the big 12 championship, texas and texas fans are saying that they should finish ahead of ou because they beat teh sooners head-to-head.

if osu wins, then it will be texas tech going to the big 12 championship, and texas fans will have their own argument used against them.

True; my point was that the irony is that, even though it would work against Texas as far as the Big 12 championship game is concerned, it could work FOR Texas as far as the national championship game is concerned. It would eliminate one potential roadblock from the path to the title game. Kind of like losing the battle to win the war.

Not necessarily. Last year Georgia was ranked fourth (ahead of LSU at No. 5/No. 7 and Oklahoma at No. 9/No. 8 in AP/Coaches), behind Missouri, WVU and Ohio State. But after LSU won the SEC title game and Oklahoma won the Big 12 title game, Georgia stayed at No. 4 behind both LSU and Oklahoma in both polls.

So if Oklahoma loses today and Texas Tech wins the Big 12 title game, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Tech jumps Texas in the final standings. I would think Texas' best chance is if Oklahoma wins today but loses to Missouri next week.

Actually, I think Texas' best bet would actually be for Oklahoma State to win tonight, then for Missouri to beat Texas Tech in the Big 12 championship game. I wasn't trying to say that Texas definitely would make the national champonship game, though, just that I thought their chances might be better that way. What you say about Tech jumping Texas is possible, and I also think it would be possible for Alabama and Florida to be 1-2 even after the SEC championship game (especially if that game is very close).

What a sham, Oregon State is getting raped by the refs. And you people think your conference's referees are bad, they have nothing on Pac-10 refs.

If Okie State can pull off this shocker (which they won't), UT has their ticket punched to the title game, despite not winning the big xii south.

No they don't.

Um, yes they do. They're number two in the computers right now. Alabama is barely, and I stress barely ahead of them in the computers. If Alabama loses, they will surely fall behind UT in both the polls and the computers. If Alabama beats Florida, then UT is going to stay right where they're at. Granted, and Oklahoma loss will probably move the Gators ahead of the 'Horns initially in the BCS, but one of the two teams will drop next weekend. UT doesn't have to play next season so the only way they get knocked out of the title game is if a one loss Alabama losing to Florida or a one loss USC passes them up next weekend. There's no way USC is going to be able to make a big statement against UCLA and Notre Dame to make up the billion points needed in the polls and there is absolutely no way that they can catch UT in the computers. There's also no way voters are going to put Alabama ahead of UT if Alabama loses the last game.

So yes, if Oklahoma State wins tonight, Texas has clinched a BCS title berth.

You're forgetting about the team that would play in the Big 12 title game should Oklahoma lose today and, as I posted earlier, what happened last year.

First the Oregon TD that was scored thanks to a bogus PI on 3rd down against OSU. Now this.

After what happened a couple years ago with Ohio State and Michigan when the voters jumped Florida over Michigan, I doubt they would rank the loser of the SEC title game No. 2.

At the end of the first half USC has 266 total yards and Notre Dame has 9.

It would just be delicious irony if Texas fans had to shut their collective mouths about head to head being the deciding factor if Tech won the Big XII.

And I happen to agree that Tech really shouldn't jump Texas under any circumstances. It'd still be funny.

I'm no offensive guru but these stats seem to be in direct contrast to Notre Dame's decided "schematic advantage."

USC's defense is amazing, I think it's the best since Carroll got there.

Bradford is laying on the ground with the ball

Musburger: "I must admit it looks like he is down"

How could he be any more down Brent? He is laying on the ground.

Is a win, even a blowout, versus a then four loss Missouri team going to have Texas Tech, who two weeks earlier lost by forty points and the week previously survived against Baylor going to pass USC, Penn State, and Texas? the answer is no. Even if they did pass USC and Penn State, they'd be behind Alabama/Florida winner and Texas in the polls. They'd be behind Texas in the computers. You run the numbers. If Florida/Alabama winner is #1 in the two polls (which they will be), if Texas is #2 in the polls (which they will) and Texas Tech will be #2 in the computers and Texas #1, which is most likely, then BCS:

0.973333333 Alabama/Florida Winner

0.973333333 Texas

0.933333333 Texas Tech

That's a perfect case scenario for Tech. Now assume that Texas Tech actually passed Texas in the computers:

0.973333333 Alabama/Florida Winner

0.960000000 Texas

0.946666667 Texas Tech

Nevermind that Missouri is probably the favourite in this pot'l matchup with Crab likely out.

I was busy watching Oregon gash some Beaver. What happened with OU and Okie State?

Bradford fumbled but fell on it (and was down), OSU dude came in and ripped it away and they initially awarded the ball to OSU.
