Another week, win or loss, that PSU can't overtake Alabama and Texas..........Should be a fun month or so of college football.

that's nice and all, but alabama is still the number 2 team in the sec.

That's debateable and not something I am willing to debate right now. Suffice to say, Alabama can and could beat any team in the SEC even Florida.

On the contrary, word on the street is that they cease to exist between 1:26 AM and 2:07 AM on Tuesdays.

Actually no their not. Florida has beaten only one legit quality team all yr and that is LSU .v. Alabama "supposedly" only quality win with GA. UF beat a Kentucky team who lost several key members of their team (if people are going to say beating Clemson isn't impressive, then beating Kentucky without their best players isn't impressive. Both teams have impressive wins over Tennessee, and Arkansas. Both teams have impressive wins over NOW mediocre teams; Clemson .v. Miami. Both have routine wins over crappy/inferior teams; Hawai'i .v. Western Kentucky. The difference between Alabama and Florida is that Alabama beat Ole Miss. I don't look at scores as indication to the quality of the team. At worst I would put Florida as 1B to Alabama's 1A until the situation changes. Face with a similar schedule Alabama has held strong, and Florida had one sign of weakness. So i SUSPECT this debate will be answer in Atlanta in December. And I love Alabama's history against Florida in SECCG.

Uh...why was this a reply to me?

college football news:

Penn State might have gotten over the hump against Ohio State and now appears to be in a great position to play for the national title, but there are still big questions about the offense. Did Daryll Clark really have a concussion, or was he pulled for Pat Devlin because he was ineffective?

yes you morons, he was pulled because he was ineffective. the offensive lineman was holding up two fingers in front of his face to see if he could count that high.

Devlin is going to be the No. 2, but Clark still hasn’t been able to show he can come through late with everything on the line.

i guess that's a fair assessment, though he's had zero opportunities to do so, and he certainly hasn't shown that he CAN'T come through late with everything on the line.

Clearly Penn State needs to stop beating the crap out of these inferior teams to give Clark a chance to prove himself.

Anybody watching the Tulsa game? Their stands are the closest to the field that I have ever seen.

Keep on winning and maybe you'll be top ten by the time the Gators massacre the Noles.

For the first time in 4 years, I have a feeling this game will be closer than most people will think. We match up pretty well against UF now.

What is with Sunday games. Do they not want to showoff what they can do for the polls. I realize its just Tulsa, but still an undefeated team ranked in the top 25 yet they get leapfrogged by not playing when they should. This and Tuesday night games are just stupid.

after the title game this year, we should have a pool to guess which team meph will pick next year.

or maybe have a contest and the winner gets to select the team for him.

otherwise we're going to have to wait for the preseason polls to start trickling out and a consensus top-5 to be developed before we'll know.

yeah i decided to go to UT because they were a consensus top 5 team at the beginning of the season.

And you didn't force Tim Tebow to wink at you that one time.

2. Showing up every week against mediocre teams at home.

Question: Is beating Ole Miss 24-20 at home different than losing to Ole Miss at home 31-30 because of a missed XPT?

If you answer anything other than "No" you're [expletive]. Again, Bama isn't better than Florida because Florida missed that extra point.

Is winning different than losing?

In those cases? The answer is no. In the standings yes, in actually telling us how good teams are? absolutely not. again, i dont see how this so hard for you guys to understand. it's not a difficult concept. it's a concept that you guys *gasp* believe in baseball but dont believe in football because the season is shorter magnifying individual wins and losses (which is incredibly stupid).

IT'S THE DEFINING PURPOSE OF THE GAME

You know what when Alabama whups Florida in Atlanta in about month and change, you will see why I like Alabama's better then Florida. You can write this down now......If Alabama and Florida meet in the SECCG Alabama will beat Florida by 3 TD's. The only team in the SEC East I do not want to face in the SECCG is Georgia, and next week GA is going to show why Florida is abit overrated.

Ok, this is just looney.

the w/l debate is so pathetic it almost causes me physical pain

rankings aren't used to determine who is better or worse, they're used to determine who is more deserving. throwing a bitch fit about how wins and losses don't matter every time one of the 9 teams you root for drops a home game to an unranked team is embarrassing.

Probably true. I would like to see more of them as I have become very curious the past couple of weeks, just find a way to do it on Friday night.

That could be the case, this is something I am not familiar with at all.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

I don't think Meph has heard the great quote by Herm Edwards.

5. Florida 6-1 1,337

6. Texas Tech 8-0 1,280

7. USC 6-1 1,234

8. Georgia 7-1 1,212

9. Oklahoma State 7-1 1,168

10. Utah 8-0 1,027

11. Boise State 7-0 946

12. TCU 8-1 848

13. Ohio State 7-2 834

14. Missouri 6-2 791

15. LSU 5-2 649

22. Michigan State 7-2 219

23. Oregon 6-2 188

24. South Florida 6-2 100

25. Maryland 6-2 89

LSU is way too high.

I think they are about where they should be. The two teams that beat them are pretty solid. I don't think LSU is very good this year, but I don't think there are too many teams behind them that could beat them.

The two teams they've lost to are quality, but the LSU defense has allowed more than 100 points combined to those teams and the entire Tiger team has looked pitiful in both.

They also struggled with a bad Mississppi State team (that Tennessee of all teams pounded 34-3) and squeaked out a win over a bad Auburn team.

They are not a top 15 team - I'm not sure they're a top 25 team until proven otherwise.
