Last year's Stanford team is NOWHERE near as bad as this year's Wazzou team.

This.

If the spread for all Wazzou's Pac10 games was 43 they'd be 1-3 against it.

washington state would have to be getting more than 50 in this game before i even thought about betting on them. they may be the worst i-a team, period.

I was wondering about anyone taking State over OSU this weekend.

Hopefully ill be able to catch some of this game. State has been real close in doing it but have blown it in the 4th quarter.

It would be about damn time they win one.

line is ohio state -3, so michigan state winning should not be a surprise to anyone.

anyone planning on watching byu-tcu tonight? should be one of the best non-bcs games of the year.

I'll probably watch some of it. TCU should win it.

I would, but ESPN is televising some crap-filled ACC game instead.

It's on Versus if you get it.

So if Texas wins out, and Penn St. wins out and Florida wins out, who makes it in? Texas and...

penn state, i would hope. i'm pretty sure that penn state will have a handful of wins tougher than a home game against ole miss.

in other news, byu is getting absolutely crushed. they're not playing well, but tcu is very good. the mountain west is probably better than the big east this year.

Beating Illinois and Wisconsin is not a big deal.

The Big 10 is so bad.

A win at Ohio St. would be a big win.

Very true, but winning the SEC would be a big deal.

Can Penn State match wins over LSU (by 30), Georgia and Alabama?

A win over Ohio State would certainly be one, but I don't see any other top 10 or 15 teams on the Lions' schedule. Plus, there's an excellent chance Bama will be top 5 if UF beats them in the SEC Championship game.

I hate how timing of losses has a huge impact.

Lets say Penn St. is the only undefeated team, with a 1 loss Texas, a 1 loss Florida, and a 1 loss USC.

USC will have gone the longest without a loss but with easily the worst of the bunch to Oregon State.

Florida would be in the middle with a loss to Ole Miss but wins the SEC Championship.

and lets pretend Texas losses to Mizzou, but wins out and wins the Big 12 Championship over Mizzou.

Who would go to the Title game, and who should go to the Title game? Texas would have easily the best of all of the losses with the chance to redeem their loss to the team that beat them. USC has the advantage of losing so early on, despite losing to a much more inferior team in a much weaker conference than the Big 12 and SEC. Florida is just kind of in the middle, and probably has just as much of a case as Texas to go.

Texas and Florida should go, in my opinion.

Texas should be a no-doubter, but I think Florida ought to be a pretty sure thing too. The Ole Miss loss looks bad, but wouldn't be much, if any worse than USC's loss to Oregon State. Florida also will have better wins than either USC or Penn State.

There's a very good chance that Penn State would get the nod, though. The Big Ten isn't especially good this year, but it's still no easy task to make it through unbeaten. Florida might be a little more deserving because of their superior wins, but I wouldn't pitch a fit about either making it (I definitely wouldn't complain about Florida getting passed over though :D ).

I have an idea. You guys might of heard of it before so im not making this up.

In some college sports and pro sports, at the end of each regular season they do this thing called a *playoff* or maybe its PAYoff im not sure, anyways. Its crazy, they take the best teams from each sport and they play it out to see who deserves the title. Maybe college football should try it?

How would we compare wins Big 12 wins over Mizzou, OU, Tech, OSU to SEC wins over Bama, LSU, and Georgia. Honestly I think Florida's schedule is weaker than Texas, but I might be biased. All seven team will have been in the top 10 at some point in the season. I think there is a strong case that those two conference champions should play against each other for the national title, but possible neither conference will even have a representative in the title game should Penn State go undefeated and USC have only 1 loss.

[-X I don't believe you. There's no way something that sensible and logical exists.

After all, there's certainly nothing wrong with the current system . . . [-(

There's no doubt Texas has a stronger resume right now than Florida. And the likelihood is that the margin will remain throughout the year. My point was that while Penn State wouldn't have a loss, Florida might have three better wins than the Nittany Lions.

And it would be a travesty (though not surprising) if USC made it into the title game over 1-loss Texas and Florida. The resumes of the latter two are much better than Florida's.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. No guarantee Florida, Texas OR Penn State get though without a loss (or two)

This is extremely true and I really doubt any of the three make it through without at least one more loss each.

The original question, though, was IF all three did win out, who should go to the title game.

should or will? If one of the reasons for no playoff is to preserve the sanctity of the regular season, then you have to take the undefeated team(s), right?

If Penn State wins out, they should be in. If Penn State has one-loss, they should not get picked over a 1-loss Florida and 1-loss Texas team (if they lose)

Down goes another. Now Utah and Boise State need to fall and the door is open for...

the mighty Ball State Cardinals!!!

(Ok, probably not really, BYU will still be ranked ahead of us next week after all.)
