Watched the end of the Toronto/Ottawa game on HNIC last night, and perhaps folks are right about Leafs fans not supporting a team in a place like Hamilton. When Toronto scored the game-winner in OT, the Scotia Bank Center (Centre?) erupted like it was a Leafs home game.

Reminded me of Daryl Ward's bomb in Florida and all the Cub fans there. Oh, happy days.

i went to a leafs/sens game there on thanksgiving. it was probably about 50/50 between sens and leafs fans.

that said, they do sell out just about every game, and most of the time they're not playing the leafs.

Trade deadline Wednesday... anyone's team looking like they're gonna make some noise?

there are only a few sellers at this point. new york, tampa, and atlanta are the only ones that immediately spring to mind.

the kings don't sound like they're going to be doing anything.

I saw this on a post at LetsGoWings.com.....I dont think it is even remotely true but

I just thought of something today that scared the hell out of me:

From Ducks:

Chris Pronger

From Chicago:

Brent Seabrook, Dustin Byfuglien, Martin Havlat's expiring contract, 1st round pick (2009).

The Hawks then pick up an enforcer (Laraque?) or an experienced forward (Recchi?) for chickenfeed and get Pronger's experience and sandpaper for this year and next year, plus get a whole lot tougher to play against. The Ducks get a 20-game audition to see if they want to re-sign UFA Havlat, plus they get solid prospects in Byfuglien and a draft pick, and a chance to see if Seabrook can get back on track. Maybe the Hawks would have to throw in Skille as well into one of the deals.

I'm scared. I need someone to talk me out of this trade. Obviously, I think it only works if the Ducks bite on the last year of Havlat's $6 million/year contract.

I actually dont think it would be a good deal for the Hawks, but it would sure shake things up some.

I would opposed to picking up Pronger, and/or Laraque type enforcer, cause they those two players would definately make teams like Detroit and San Jose think twice about getting physical. Recchi, IMO doesn't make sense.

As for the "rumor" Pronger deal, I like it. IMO it is essentially Seabrook and a 1st rd pick(which would be mid to late 20s pick, anyways) for Pronger (seeing as chances are Havlat is pricing himself out of Chicago anyways, and Buff sucks.) But this deal would be contingent on Kane and Sharp getting back on track for the playoffs. If Kane and Sharp are back on track, then yeah I would make this trade.

that would be a horrible trade for the hawks. the difference from seabrook to pronger isn't THAT much, pronger is a [expletive], the hawks would be shedding a ton of scoring (Recchi blows, seriously), and they don't need an enforcer at all.

Pronger will never be a Blackhawk.

His bitchy wife will never leave SoCal.

Plus, Havlat is the best player on the ice besides Toews for the last 6 weeks... why the hell would we trade him? AND Seabrook? AND a first round pick? HELL NO.

Pronger is amazing and would instantly make Keith/Pronger one of the best defense pairs we've seen in awhile... but he'd cost too much for us.

Never got to comment on the Devils' trade. I like Havelid as more depth on defense. I would've preferred a more physical defenseman, but oh well.

There's talk of Clemmensen getting traded for a scoring center or a physical defenseman so I'm interested to see what happens tomorrow.

I hope the Hawks don't trade Havlat. At this point there aren't many trades that I'd make that would involve Havlat.

hopefully other teams around the league are smart enough to realize that clemmensen is a product of the devils' defensive system, and not a legitimate starting goalie.

Vermette to Columbus for Pascal Leclaire

I like the deal for Columbus, but I've always been a Vermette fan. Very solid two-way player. He's another offensive underachiever on Columbus, though.

eta: Ottawa gets a 2nd rounder too. Very even trade.

Dammit, I wanted Vermette.

Oh well... Moore will be traded today per TSN... Antropov also didn't play last night. Hawks were looking at both.

preds radio guys think nashville was showing interest in both as well.

Whoever gets Moore is making a bad trade...I think someone is going to give too much for Antropov, too, but he's at least a pretty solid player, imo. Moore is a 3rd liner that's been playing out of role this year.
