If anyone wants to go to the game tomorrow I have 2 tickets that I can't use. I live about 5-10 minutes from the United Center and will be home until 11:30-noon. They're crappy tickets ($10 each). You'd have to pick them up from my apartment though. Send me a PM if you want them.

Breaking News: This team is really bad.

More like this team is really average and Orlando (er, Dwight Howard) is really, really good.

The Bulls stink. The only reason why they are relevent is because of Derrick Rose. Otherwise this Bulls team would be forgotten in the NBA.

david it's okay to admit that this team is below average.

At worst they're below average. They're nowhere near "really bad."

They have elite backcourt production and a terrible front court. If they had any semblance of a defensive presence in the front (like they did a few years ago) they'd be pretty good. They don't even *need* a low post scorer, just somebody who can defend bigs.

I'm not sure why anyone expected anything but a blowout vs. Orlando, though. We match up terribly against them and it seems to happen every single time we face them.

The Bulls are bad.

They don't guard anybody. Their top earner got his money and now sucks. Their reliable scorer is going to leave. Their high draft pick big men are lazy and seemingly uncoachable.

they literally just stand around on both ends of the court.

Deng never deserved that contract in the first place. It's too bad we didn't just let him go to the Clippers. We'd be looking real good in the 2010 frame of mind.

I don't think the organization is going to let Gordon go. This year has shown just how important he is to this team. Can you imagine how much worse this team would be if Gordon wasn't back here this year? There's no question that Rose is the best all-around player on this team, but we'd have a hard time scoring over 75-80 a game without Gordon. There's only a couple of other teams that can offer him a big contract and I'm not sure that teams will do that the year before 2010.

Surprisingly, I'm not really all that upset with how this season is going. The only thing that really irks me is Del Negro's teaching, or lack thereof, on the defensive end. That Hawks game was murder on the ears last Saturday. Whenever the Bulls would "force" an Atlanta miss, the Hawks would just get the offensive board and put the ball back in the hoop. Second chance points have killed this team this year. Gray, Gooden, and Tyrus are some of the worst interior defenders that I have ever seen.

I'm happy that we "lost out" on D'Antoni too. We need to play defense to win titles.

I'm torn with Gordon. I think he'll get more money than he's worth and hamstring us for 2010. I'm in the knee-jerk, overreaction camp that wants to dump anyone who makes anything other than Rose before 2010.

I disagree about Gordon. He's by far the best scorer on the team, but I think he has to go. Him and Derrick cannot play together in the same backcourt without him significantly detracting from Derrick's potential. Ben Gordon still thinks he can create a shot in this league, and he simply cannot. He gets stuffed on his drives and he can't create an open shot with his ball handling. The only way he's valuable is if someone is dishing him the ball for an open jumper. If he could do that and turn himself into a Reggie Miller type, or even a better version of John Paxson in his prime, then he's a valuable player. But he still insists on handling the ball, dribbling it, and that is a disaster. He could never ever score in crunch time with time running out, because if the other team knows he's taking the shot, he simply cannot get a good one off. And he still can't.

I say good bye Ben Gordon. If for no other reason than the fact he is hindering the development of Derrick Rose. I hate to compare him with selfish players like Jalen Rose and Jamal Crawford, but it doesn't impress me that he consistently leads sucky teams in scoring.

I'd keep Rose, Noc, Hinrich and thats about it.

Everyone else can go

You ALMOST had it. I'd keep Rose, and give everybody else a bus ticket out of Chicago.

lol Hinrich and chucker Nocioni.

I still think Gordon's the other guy that should be kept because unlike others, I think he works pretty well with Rose. The stats don't lie, do they?

I want Gordon gone and I believe he will be gone as, IMO, his liabilities outweigh he one good basketball skill.

Hinrich would be redundant with Rose around, he's not a great shooting guard and he's being paid far too much to be a backup point guard.
Posted (edited)

Noc plays stupid, Hinrich is too expensive for a backup and GORDON is too one-dimensional.

If I'm keeping someone I guess it's Tyrus because if you put him with the right system he could be a 15-10 guy with a modicum of effort.

Edit - I'm am so, so, so, so, so very sorry Derrick.

That's where I'm at. I don't care if others call it "knee jerk." In the NBA, seems to me you win with superstars. Rose can be one, none of the others can. We need to get into a position to get another all-pro calibre piece to counterbalance Rose. I don't care if all the other players on this team are gone. If that's what it takes to get that 2nd piece, then so be it.

After that, fill out the roster with riff raff. But get yourself in a position to compliment Rose or he's just going to be wasted.

I'd sure hate to see Rose 3 years from now, still trying to be all things to all people because he doesn't have anyone else to help, getting frustrated and getting triple teamed and getting tired. Then finally demanding a trade. How bad would that suck? Better get some help in here, and get it pronto.

While talent rules in the NBA, I'd say you need some semblance of a head coach to be competitive. VDN is a complete joke. D'Antoni would have been so great for this club. Derrick Rose #'s would be even better than they are now, this team would be fun as well to watch and it would have helped in attracting FA's. Yes, he eventually would have worn out his time, but would have brought this team a point were they are ready to contend.

The fact he isn't coaching this team is a complete and utter joke. Thanks Reinsdorf and Pax..again.

Vinny is a joke.

Lots of us said this when he was first hired too. I don't understand why Pax did this. It doesn't take much basketball knowledge to see that a guy with no coaching experience is not the right choice. I have little basketball expertise. How come I could see this and Pax couldn't? I'm just asking because that move seemed dumb at the time, and even dumber now. Even if Vinny somehow finds his coaching voice now, it will still have been a bad move because we've now lost time.
