This team needs an overhaul in the offseason. Say what you want about "they were the best team all year" and that, but this team is getting older and has a lot of pieces that just are not good enough at their positions to warrant the money/playing time they receive.

 

Geo and Aramis should be the only two locks to come back next year on the everyday lineup.

No, no, no!! If it happens once with the core group, fine. However, it's 0-6 with this collection of players. When it's money time, they crap the bed. They might be good regular season players, but they choke when it counts.

Soriano? older, albatross contract, starting to become injury prone

Center Field? What is the long term answer there?

Fukudome? What can we expect from him?

Theriot? definitely not the answer at Short

DeRosa/Fontenot: that works for me actually

Lee? Getting older and the power is shrinking rapidly. Overpaid for the offensive production at first base.

 

These are realities not solely based on the three games we have seen, but looking forward, these are legitimate issues that need to be addressed.

I can't wait to read DeRosa's blog to see how sad he is the Cubs didn't do well again this year. Next year, if he is with the Cubs, he needs to not talk so much and worry about playing. There comes a point when we don't care to hear excuses. The last two games he was terrible. Tonight there is no excuse for not bringing in the runner on third with one out, and then watching pitch after pitch go straight across the plate, and then swinging at the ball in the dirt.

Good call. Lee was obviously the villain in this series.

 

And there is minimal blame to be put on Hendry. He put together a near 100 win team that didn't show up for the playoffs. That's not on him. They played tight and coughed it up.
