Free agent outfielders of note

Milton Bradley-wants multi year deal. Worth the injury risk?

Pat Burrell-Defensive liability

Adam Dunn-refer above

Manny Ramirez-again, refer above

Bobby Abreau-pushing 35.

Raul Ibanez-not that great, over the hill

Angels have a 2009 club option on Vlad. Gee, I wonder if they'll pick that up.

And then of course, well, you know...that guy who no team wanted this year, even for minimun wage

Find a power hitting RF

Fuku to CF with Reed.

Dump Marquis' salary.

Lock up Wood (3 years) and Dempster (4-5 years) on "hometown discount" deals.

Soriano

Lee

Ramirez

RF

Soto

DeRosa

CF Platoon

Theriot

Zambrano, Harden, Dempster, Lilly, Marshall/Samardzija/Hill/etc

Wood, Marmol, Wuertz, Cotts, Gaudin, Marshall/Samardzija/Guzman/etc

Hoffpauir, Blanco, Fontenot, Cedeno, Fukudome

Yeah, i'd rather put Pie in center and let him start also. But, just curious, who is that "power hitting right fielder that we should and could get?

I haven't gotten that far yet. Presumably though it is a trade, in which case Pie will likely be a part of it.

We're kind of stuck with Fukudome at his deal.

As much as I love Lee, he needs to go.

Lee to the Mariners for prospects

Sign Texiera

Sign Dunn

Sign Wood&Demp to hometown deals

Trade Marquis for anything(eat half his salary)

Trade Vitters, Ceda, Rundle, Castillo, PTBNL to Arizona for Webb. He's a FA after the 09 season.

Let Howry, Edmonds, Blanco all walk. If I'm right, with the departing players, we'd have about 35 mil to spend, and new owners usually make some kind of splash.

1.Soriano

2.Theriot

3.Texiera

4.Ramirez

5.Dunn

6.Derosa

7.Soto

8.Pie/Reed

1.Webb

2.Harden

3.Zambrano

4.Dempster

5.Lilly

Obviously, this most likely wont happen, but they need to get a superstar hitter no matter what. Whether it's trading the farm for Holliday, or signing Texiera.

Whatever they do, they need to upgrade the offense. I'd be fine with maintaining the pitching staff. The 2009 free agents on offense look terrible. I like the idea of trading Lee and signing Teixera, but I can't ever see it happening. Can Teixera play OF? Can he learn?

Can we get a grinder please? Someone that gives a rats behind to play the game. A player like the SS on the southside who kicks dirt at the pitcher and yells "Go F*** yourself"? Not these same boring players, year after year.

I don't know what you're saying, but it's making me laugh.

Watch Orlando Cabrera from game 1. He is a winner. I want someone like that on our team next year.

Every part of his strikeout that at bat and the White Sox 0-2 deficit screams winner.

Isn't Theriot a "grinder"?

I love Theriot. But just cause hes a small white guy doesn't make him a grinder. And Orlando Cabrera won in Boston and Anaheim. Gold Glove player.

But enough with this off season. We have Harden Up. Then Lilly. Lets bring this one back to the Chi, what do ya say?

You know who can play OF? Chipper Jones.

Oh man, Chipper in this lineup would be fantastic too.

I'd prefer Tex given age and health considerations, though.

You know who else has a more gimpy hamstring then Aramis Ramirez? The same Chipper Jones. Chipper missed alot of games this yr because of his hamstring, no way would I want him playing the OF.

Stop using that term. Please.

FWIW, I'd love to see Cabrera at SS next year. Perfect #2 hitter in a lineup and he actually has range and an arm on defense.

Move Lee for anything. Try to free up money to go after Sabathia. I know the probabilities of this are slim to none, but it's sure fun to dream.

I don't think any of these have a chance of happening, but first I'd trade Fukudome + Lee to the Mets for Beltran.

Then, I'd sign Teixeira for 1b. We'd have to pick up a RF, but I think we could look to add through a trade rather than FA.

Why would the Mets do that trade?

Considering the Mets either have, or will pick up Delgado's option. They have no use for Lee.

Orlando Cabrera won what in Anaheim?

Orlando Cabrera sucks. He'd be a downgrade from Theriot.(and I'm no Theriot fanboy)

Maybe "OC" won himself a free rally monkey? IDK I'm spitballing here. Not to mention OC didn't win in Boston either, he rode the bandwagon for 3 months then split to Anaheim after the season. So this theory that OC has won something, is complete bunk.
